nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Dec 29, 2008 Batch 003. Bottle courtesy of my Secret Santa. Pours a hazy amber color, which I was not expecting from a brown. Also has a notable tan head, which suprised me for the amount of time this has been in a barrel. Mild in aroma and flavor for a sour. Features the unique taste of Rainier cherries. The acid content in this made my teeth feel like they were about to fall out, though. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Dec 28, 2008 Updated: Mar 16, 2009Bottle from nbutler11s SS haul. Beautiful color of ruby red and gold with a white head that starts full and fades. Aroma of sweet sourdough and burning cherry. Flavor is very much like a kriek at the outset, with a nicely balanced cherry presence. Wood only comes through as balance not as flavor. I detected no Pinot here from start to finish. As it warms, turns very decidedly to Bing and Rainier cherry flavors. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Dec 27, 2008 375, corked and baled. Thanks again, Tom! Pours very pinkish light amber. Pleasantly polite and mild nose of seemingly mostly sour pie cherries. Creamy, fizzy medium body. Tons of interesting fruit interplay, along with lactic, mineral, and dark vinegar notes on the mid-palate. Another beautifully harmonious blending of disparate sour notes. Long pucker finish. Great, great, great, great stuff. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Dec 21, 2008 A copper pour with a tan head and lace. It almost has the color appearance of a brown liquor. Aroma of sour apple/cherry. A deep cherriness on the flavor with a monster sour that spreads across your mouth and lays. You can lick the sour off your teeth 30 seconds after you drink it. Full bodied with a tad of hot carb. A very nice sour ale. ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Dec 17, 2008 Cherries are not very evident, although it is fairly fruity, but in a nondescript way. Flavor starts out moderately vinous, but flattens out some into the finish. Quite sour-very tangy. Musty. hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Dec 17, 2008 Batch 003. Hazy brown pour. It smells pretty nice. Lots of cherries as you would expect. A bit of funk that reminds me of a lemon also. Flavor is really intense. You do not want to take a swig of this, but it is so good. There is a really nice oakiness in addition to all of the lemon and cherry tartness. It is probably the only thing that keeps it balanced in any sense, but it is delicious regardless. Definitely waters your palate and finishes with a nice pucker. Really good beer. crowderm (275), Recklinghausen, Germany Dec 17, 2008 Very nice hazy amber pour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of must, lemon, sour funk and a hint of cherry. Crazy flavor - extremely sour, tart. Wood, lemon, cherries, green apple, lactic notes, slight white wine quality. Nice full body. Great beer. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 14, 2008 Wow. An amazing beer with a ton of different flavors. This is an elite brew. Smell is musty, funky, sour, tart, fruity and everything else. Taste is all of the above, and then some. Take a bite out of a lemon, then suck on a handful of pink colored Sour Patch Kids and you will get a feeling of what this is like. So sour it will leave a funny feeling in your mouth. Fantastic brew.
