| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 29, 2008 Bottle of batch 3. Huge off white had that was quite persistent. Aroma is of the sour cherries and the Pinot barrel. This beer carries a much strong sour aroma than the previous batches. I like it a lot. Light brownish almost orange color with a nice tingling carbonation that permiates the mouth. Very balanced beer with the hops only adding to bitterness. The superb dryness of the beer makes it incredibly digestible and nearly refreshing. I absolutely love this beer. I am so glad I bought a case of it. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA

Aroma is sour cherry, a bit of orange. Taste is sharp tartness up front, bit of vinegar, with a citrusy acidity on the finish - a bit earthy also, woody barnyard. Crisp and so light in body. Beautifully done beer. SamGamgee (1429), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 27, 2008 Rating number 500! 375ml bottle, batch 3, at the Trappist in Oakland. Crystal clear amber-orange with a beige head. Sour lemon, white wine and subtle sour cherry aroma. The flavor is quite dry and sour, mostly citric sour, with a hint of vinegar. The cherries are quite subtle, but being sour cherries, they can be expected to blend in with the overall tartness of the beer, I guess. Light bodied and highly carbonated, with a dry, puckering finish. This is definitely my kind of sour, with emphasis on a fruity sourness. The complexities of the wine and cherry flavors are really nice. Props to the Trappist for serving this perfectly in a couple RR chalices. BMan1113VR (2814), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA

A very pretty beer, first pout is clear and then after is a hazy orange/rose color with a small off-white head. Aroma of cherries, sour, banana, spices, pepper and cassis. Taste is very sour at first with a really long tart cherry aftertaste. Slightly sweet in the middle, but the taste does not have nearly as much characters of the Pinot as I was expecting or wanting (compared to the Amazing Grace that I had at the Abbey). Light and a bit fizzy. Alcohol is well hidden. 9,4,7,4,15,3.9 Rerate: Batch 3. Pours pretty with a hazy orange body with great lacing and a huge white head that stays. Aroma is awesome with vinous notes, funk, cherrys, barrel, sourness and wine. Taste is sour, sour and more sour with cherries, wine and a bit of baby diaper. Fizzy, dry and mouthpuckering. Big thanks to kmweaver for the bottle. Slightly hazy orange, translucent white head. Dry wine grapes, apples growing dark and wrinkled on the tree, mind rose petals, old barn boards. Lovely fruit sourness, grapeskin, pepper and wool. Well-balanced and refreshing. Kept wishing for more cherry contribution, but still really enjoyed this. Hank1980 (743), Athens, Georgia, USA
