Nose is less extreme than I expected at first, but still very pleasent. Sour cherries are beginning to be evident as the beer warms a bit, lots of heady bacteria (yum)., a little oak, and a deifinite red wine funk that just works so well. Deep oranage amber with small head that continually fades even after swirling. This is such a nice beer. Shockingly sour flavor with an inceredibly subtle, yet rich, cherry flavor in the finish. A little lemon and lime were also noted. The juices, not like Sprite or any shit like that. One of the best. Thanks Vinnie! footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 12, 2007 375ml from RR Store. Had side by side with Rodenbach Grand Cru 750 ml. Both in Damnation glasses and breathing for about 10 minutes. Supplication hazy and copper/amber as opposed to clear cherry red. Both with a sweet/tart sour acidic aroma but supplication with some brett funk in addition. Both had perfect body after warming. Rodenbach had more of a sweet/tart sharp taste.Whereas Supplication had pleasant sweet/tart taste with some brett funk which did not overwhelm but added character. Overall I can’t pick a winner. In my mind De Dolle Speciaal Brouwsel 20 was slightly sharper with more character than either the Supplication or the Rodenbach Grand Cru. But the De Dolle was over 2 years ago. Temptation was more musty and Le Woody was less balanced. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2007 Bottle poured a clear light amber/red color with no head. The aroma was loaded with oak, cherry, wine, funk, funk and more funk. Taste was very tart and sour with a vinous oak flavor. The finish was a nice cherry mixed with a puckering brett taste that was just tame enough to enjoy. Overall not my style yet still very enjoyable. jimbowood (950), Athens, Georgia, USA

So I’ve has sour brews that were overpowering (La Folie) and sour beers that were awesome (Cuvee de Tomme). This one is somewhere in between. A ltad bit overpowering, but finish is really nice and sweet w/ cherries. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Bottle from the RR store. Thanks. I have wanted to try this one for a really long time, for a few reasons: one - its from Russian River, and two - its a sour ale aged in red wine barrels. Plus the added bonus of some cherries! Pours a dark brown color with a thick yellow head that disappears as quickly as it forms. The smell is sour cherries, some red wine notes, but mostly it smells like you chopped open an oak tree and smell into the middle of it. Fantastic smell. Taste is full of sour and oak notes, with a little bit of cherries but mostly it is dominated by the pinot barrel flavor. Very light and easy to drink, this is really good stuff. Aromas of cherry and citrus. Flavors are tart, not too sour but quite intense. Probably as sour as I can handle. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Pours with a bright amber body topped by a thin, fizzy head with little lacing left on the glass. It’s sour, tart and vinious with a sour cherry note and an underlying chocolate note that compiments the cherry very nicely. Light bodied, crisp and dry. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Fricken fantastic. Just a really well done beer that if handed to you in a glass not knowing what it was would just make you stand up and dance. Pours amber/copper with a tall white head. Very nice funky brett taste, earthy, musty, dry, with a sour finish. Cherries and wood shine in the high carbonation with a tart finish that keeps you fully refreshed thinking you might find a way to finish off that monster of a bottle by yourself, maybe tuck it under your jacket while no one is looking and go and hide under the porch and sip away in peace.
