A very pretty beer, first pout is clear and then after is a hazy orange/rose color with a small off-white head. Aroma of cherries, sour, banana, spices, pepper and cassis. Taste is very sour at first with a really long tart cherry aftertaste. Slightly sweet in the middle, but the taste does not have nearly as much characters of the Pinot as I was expecting or wanting (compared to the Amazing Grace that I had at the Abbey). Light and a bit fizzy. Alcohol is well hidden. 9,4,7,4,15,3.9 Rerate: Batch 3. Pours pretty with a hazy orange body with great lacing and a huge white head that stays. Aroma is awesome with vinous notes, funk, cherrys, barrel, sourness and wine. Taste is sour, sour and more sour with cherries, wine and a bit of baby diaper. Fizzy, dry and mouthpuckering. bb (2941), Martinez, California, USA

Has some wood. and tartness in it. Hazy, orange brown coloured with not much head. The taste is sour, bit tart, has the wood again and the fruitiness. There is some sweet orange maltiness lingering through the taste of the beer like a river. Has some carbation and a decent body. This is a truly remarkable and enjoyable beer. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 5, 2006 Thanks to cmaruschak for sharing. Batch 001: Ruddy amber color with a thin light beige head that disappears almost immediately. Barely any light penetrates. Tiny rising bubbles and lacing that races down the sides of the glass. Aroma of grapes, brown sugar and sweet candy. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel, and a bold vinous character. Flavors of dark cherry and light spice and oak. The flavoring does not linger too long though. The finish is extremely dry and feels like it is sucking the moisture from your tongue as you drink it. The finish is moderately sour and peppery. Overall a very well-made and enjoyable beer. Ibrew2or3 (2833), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 28, 2009 Courtesy of SHIG, thanks. Pours hazy brown copper with thin off white head. The aroma has sweet notes of malts, sugar and berry fruitiness followed by tart berries and crushed aspirin. The taste explodes with sourness up front that seems to be tart berry fruitiness moving into dry tart crushed aspirin sucking the life out of my palate. Midway notes of sugar, sweet berry fruitiness and just a flash of malts create an all too brief and faint oasis away from the searing tartness. It ends tart and dry. I didn’t even get the faintest sense this had anything to do with barrel or wood aging. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Fricken fantastic. Just a really well done beer that if handed to you in a glass not knowing what it was would just make you stand up and dance. Pours amber/copper with a tall white head. Very nice funky brett taste, earthy, musty, dry, with a sour finish. Cherries and wood shine in the high carbonation with a tart finish that keeps you fully refreshed thinking you might find a way to finish off that monster of a bottle by yourself, maybe tuck it under your jacket while no one is looking and go and hide under the porch and sip away in peace. after4ever (2828), Brier, Washington, USA

Pleasantly polite and mild nose of seemingly mostly sour pie cherries. Creamy, fizzy medium body. Tons of interesting fruit interplay, along with lactic, mineral, and dark vinegar notes on the mid-palate. Another beautifully harmonious blending of disparate sour notes. Long pucker finish. Great, great, great, great stuff.
