Sweet fruity (cherry) nose and flavor/palate. Sticky, sharp, carbonic, tart, sour (God, was it sour!) profile. tongue dazzling with liveliness. Not so terrible. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 24, 2005 Draught: Still, headless pour of hazy clay-like orange. Bretty acidic fruit aroma with streams of pineapple, leather, tannic wine, slightly funky cheese, and sweaty horseblanket. Bretty and extremely vinious flavors, thick, oily, and mature character from the barrell aging..warming. The barrell aging seems to keep this beer from being too assertive. Pours an awesome murky burnt orange with minimal head and some light lacing left on the Trappist. Insane aromas of sour cherries, red wine and more sour cherries. Flavor was bitter and sour with a hint of sweetness on the back of the throat. One of the best sours I’ve had to date. cbkschubert (2016), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Faint lacing. Aroma is tart cherries. The flavor is tart esters (cherries) and very light oak. To be honest, this beer, and most RR Sour ales do nothing for me. They all taste the same. With that being said, I will continue to try them when I get a chance. I just can’t jump on the Sour bandwagon when I just don’t like them. My score is very generous. Thanks Jason. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma, sour cherries, a nice oak character, there is some sweetness to it, a faint vanilla, and some hints of grapes. Flavor, light cherry, some other fruits, sour grape notes, a nice tartness, a soft sour acidity, a good bit of oak comes through, and a bit of sweetness as well. Very smooth beer, the sour is just perfect for my tastes. Great stuff. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a rosey amber color with no head. More pleasant nose than most any of the other sours I sampled on the same evening. Nose of sourness, like funk and some dark fruitines. Taste is very tart, mild sweetness, and some fruitiness. Very oaky flavor and some dry, sour cherries as well. Quite tart indeed, yet still pretty drinkable. I can see this being really good, if Sours were my thing. decaturstevo (2007), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 21, 2008 A copper pour with a tan head and lace. It almost has the color appearance of a brown liquor. Aroma of sour apple/cherry. A deep cherriness on the flavor with a monster sour that spreads across your mouth and lays. You can lick the sour off your teeth 30 seconds after you drink it. Full bodied with a tad of hot carb. A very nice sour ale. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
