Aroma is cherries, nutmeg, oak, and grapes. Taste is cherries, oak, and a nice sourness. Borders on Flemish sour, but could go either way. Very Nice Brew.

375ml corked bottle. Batch 001. Really nice packaging. The Russian River branded cage is really cool. Murky brown-orange body topped by a foamy light tan head that sticks around without diminishing more than 20-30% for the entire session. The aroma is lovely, lovely, lovely. Cherry, vinegar, must, oak, definite vinous character, butterscotch that increases as it warms. The flavor is very interesting and not at all what I expected. Very nutty up front (brown ale heritage I presume) then cherry and vinegar kick in. On the backside the buttery diaceytl comes through and teeters on the precipice of too much then a final nutty blast washes through. It exhibits a very soft body that starts full but lightens up towards the end. I quite like it, though it is not mind-blowing. I am quite interested to see how this one ages. That butter-blast might come forth even more pushing it over the precipice, time will tell.

This golden brown ale poured with a modest off-white head, eliciting a sour fruity aroma. The flavor is similar to gueuze, but the subtle cherry notes make it a bit like a kriek or a sour brown ale. Overall very tasty and quite unique.

Bottle sampled. Pours red/amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of oak, sour cherries, and yeast. The flavor is tart sour cherries, wood, lively carbonation, and wine. Good body, not a fan of the style, but this was really good.

Clouded reddish amber appearance, decent head formation. Intense, funky nose that grows in character, the more you try. Citrussy, sour with tangerines and red wine displaying black cherry, berries and wood. Sour acidic flavor but very approachable, plenty of fruitiness that further forces red wine comparisons, coats the palate without being sticky, teases you with sourness in the finish.

12.7oz bottle, Batch 002 from Hollingshead Deli. Pours a cloudy orange caramel with a 1/2 finger fading beige head. Aroma is quite sour with brett and sour cherries, strawberries, oak and a good red winey characteristic. There is also a bit of brown sugar, though the sourness dominates. Taste is very sour as expected with the oak and wine shining through very well. Flavor has a good amount of tannins showing up in the dry mildly bitter finish. Reminds me of the Panil quite a bit. Medium body with moderate carbonation--hooray that it’s not too fizzy for once.

Bottle at the Stone brewpub. Pours an orange red with a very light, white head. Smells pretty acidic with light citrus fruit and cherries. Pretty big sour taste as expected. Cherries are definitely detected throughout. Kind of mellows towards the finish which is pleasant because the front is so strong. Just a great brew from an awesome brewery.
