Cherries, mango, pineapple and nutmeg in the buttery aroma. Opaque orange-tan with thin, fully-diminishing ring of off-white head. Pineapples and cherries with strong butter and lactic acidity. Very dry wine-like body. Bad bottle? Batch 1 sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

GABF 2005: Surprisingly more copper hued than brown with a very good head and lace. The aroma has big funk and cherry notes with some earthy and dusty character, light notes of caramel and bready malts as well. The taste starts with tart cherries, soft oak undertone, and biting brett nature. The Pinot Noir does show only at the finish along with some subdued spice. Great depth of palate! The feel is biting, lively and shocking, quite lambic like on the tongue. This was among the best I enjoyed at the fest. Color me happy!!

May not have had the time to settle ... light fruity slightly cider nose... aroma is quite pronounced and quite nice even if i cant quite place it ... yeah definit sourness... not really getting the cherrys and picking up a slight wine charactiristic.

From a 375 ml bottle shared at JK’s Spring Gathering, pours a cloudy orange amber with a thin white head. Aroma is quite different with hints of sour cherries, toffee, vanilla and banana bread. Taste has the sour cherries, butterscotch, and aged oak wood. Palate is medium carbonation and a dry finish. Remind me more of a Lambic style brew than a Flemish Ale. A nice complex brew.

Bottled, Batch 002. Poured medium caramelly-orange with a short cap of off-white head and a light ring. The aroma picked up lots of extra-tart cherries and vinous notes with a substantial toasted oak presence.. sour with very intricate (yet full) barrel influence. The flavor was all over the sour cherry and oak flavors... skins and pits with plenty of Brett and white wine influence.. sour oak and cherries still through the finish. Mouth-puckering tartness on the palate and grainy at times with a wonderful tart cherry finish. Great beer!

Poured a hazy orange with a thin off white-head. Funky barnyard aroma with a small amount of stewed cherries. Flavor was tart and woody. Dry bitter finish. I was hoping for a lot more cherry aroma and flavor. If it was there this would have been a good bit over 4 for me. 1/14/06: Re-tasted Bring in da noise bring in da funk. Aroma moving up a point. Light wine, cooked cherries and plenty of leather and barnyard. wine stands out but in a soft and balanced way easpecially toward the finish. I should have bought many more.

Expensive and unusual, this is not for anyone not appreciating tartness. White head on a golden body. Strong aromas, wine and cherry and wood. Complex taste of wine, cherry, wood. Balanced by malt, and while sour is not aggressive on the palate as I wouod expect. A sipper. Up there with the Cantillons but a top beer because of its similarity to wine?

Bottle (375ml - batch 02). Shared with blankboy, biegaman and tupalev - my bottle via my buddy Austin. Hazy orange with a frothy off-white head, floaties, awesome. Malty fruity aroma, lemon juice, funky yeast, oak resin, sugar and soft spice - really smooth and balanced. Taste - lemon, yeast, funk, sourness, melanged and blended - excellent. Pretty thick acidic body, medium finish - another solid RR.
