Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

On tap at Falling Rock. Pours hazy yellow with nice white head. Aroma of sour grapes, funk, fruit, oak. Pretty awesome aroma. Flavor is a nice prickly sour. Tart grapes, light funk and oak. Dry finish. Absolutely thrilled I got to drink this one.

On tap at the brewpub. Great way to end the tasting of some great beers at a good brewpub. The smell is heavenly, tart, fruits, complex, brett, wood, wine. The look has a lacy off white head and is golden orange in color. The taste brings back all the fun from the smell and ends nice and dry.

375 ml bottle (batch 001) via trade with Irishboy - Pours a hazy golden color with a 1/2 finger thick white head. Very light lacing. Has a light, but musty ripe fruit aroma with a faint hint of oak. No tartness in the aroma! The flavor is slightly tart esters with a little bit of malt sweetness. Fairly mild compared to some of the of Sours I’ve tried. The tartness lingers a tad on the palate. Medium body. A pretty nice Sour. Maybe I should age all my Sours for 3 to 4 years before drinking. Thanks Richard.

Pours a hazy straw yellow with a quick climbing head. Nose is very bright with lemon and yest, almost like a saison with brett. Taste is all over the place in a good way, light in body, extremely dry, nice light oak tanins, lemon zest, brett, leather, acid, apple peels, all compete for the palate’s attention, all find a way to be harmonious. It almost feels like this beer got lucky, shouldnt be this good, but it really is.

Bottle, thanks to TampaBrew for sharing. Poured a hazy blonde color with a tall whispy white head that leaves good lacing on the glass. Very vinous nose with notes of oak, brett, spice, and light citrus. Medium body with a smooth mouth feel. This beer rocks, dry and slightly acidic with lots of brett and oak notes throughout. Good amount of tartness and earthiness with notes of grapes and spice. Excellent.

Cloudy deep blond color; medium head. Aroma of vanilla, sweet wood, American yeast, light sourness. Smooth mouthfeel, good combination of astringency and sourness, with delicate vanilla/oak notes, The final is woody and lightly sour. Everything is very well combined. Excellent.
