Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

Batch 003. A gusher. Pours with a small white head covering a hazy gold body with small particles. Some lacing. Aroma of grape skins, light fruit, oak, some spicyness and dryness. Taste is chardonnay, oak, sourness and dryness. Light big bubbles and a dry puckering mouthfeel. Enjoyed by me more than Supplication (but my girlfriend thought the opposite). 8,4,7,4,16, 3.9
Rerate from batch 3. Pours with a huge, creamy white head that stays for a while and leaves great lacing. Hazy golden color. Aroma is nice and subdued with notes of spicy chardonnay oak barrel. Taste is champagne like with chardonnay elements and fruit. Very subtle. Touches of caramel and hay as well. Obviously quite sour as well. Champagne quality small, biting bubbles, dry and well hidden alcohol.

Thanks to cmaruschak for sharing. Batch 001. Pours hazy golden/orange with a medium thin and foamy ivory-colored head. Thick ring of lacing at the top of the glass, and spotty underneath. Tart, vinous aroma of chardonnay. Wine-like flavor, fruity and tannic. Oak is present, and there is some yeast in the background. The finish is zesty with tart fruit and a hint of sweetness. A unique beer to say the least, with some elements of a Lambic or Flemish Sour, yet still different enough to stand out. Refreshing and easy to drink too. Pretty good all around.

Batch 1 Very good, funky and sour with a beautiful nose. Hints of citrus and woodiness throughout. Batch 1 was a touch softer on the acidity and seemed to have more brett, 2 seemed a touch more sour, maybe due to the acidity. Both were very nice.

Fluffy head; some haze (hazier toward the bottom of the bottle); pale yellow-orange. Spritzy and refreshing. Champagne-like texture. Light and delicate malts balanced by breezy notes of lemon, yeast and light flowers. Somewhat vinous at times. Nice sourness and a pinch of white vinegar gives it a zingy edge. Very pleasant beer.

375ml. Thanks, Aspidites! Cloudy golden straw color. Big sour apple notes and chardonnary dry/tang on the nose. Medium horse blanket too. Fizzy but soft light carb for the main body. All kinds of tang, oak, vanilla, and chardonnay all over the mid-palate and the finish. Really a delightful glass of beer.

Courtesy of TampaBrew. Pours hazy dirty sand with thin white head. The aroma has white grapes, a touch of lemon, some mild notes of hay, malts, grains and some sour and tart notes. The taste is thin, fresh, and crisp with some grains and malts moving into light color skin grapes and then tart notes. I get some acidity and tartness heading into the finish as it evens out and comes to the end of the taste.

Nice hazy bright orange yellow pour. A great big head with some clumps of light brown yeast. Big tart brett aroma with a good amount of oak too. The flavor is pretty damn tart with acidic citrus notes, some chardonay similarities, a little oak. Long lingering tartness switches up into lots of lasting funky notes. This is a great beer.
