Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

375ml bottle batch #1. Hazy orange-gold-brown. Noce tall lasting off-white head. Amazing looking beer! Interesting funky aroma, brett in spades very vinuous (vinnieous?) also wood and toasted grain. I get some hints of butterscotch like the Supplication though not nearly as strong. The flavor is really nice and bears some definite similarities to the Supplication. Toasty and nutty along with the oaky wine and brett character. These two stand apart and defy style. Medium tart throughout. Dry feel medium body. Lasting funky finsih mingling with wood and nuts. Damn fine beer. I mean, really good. Yum.

This golden ale poured with a fluffy white head, eliciting a sharp hoppy aroma. The flavor is of lemon, apples and grapes, with a tart white wine finish. This is a very pleasant and satisfying drink.

This is one of my favorite sours. Very tart and acidic nose and flavor, yeasts bring a very tolerable palatable sourness to the brew. Warmth definitely does this one well as it brings out the tannic, spicy, vanilla flavors of the oak. Some mild citrusy hop character comes through. Sits in your mouth with the perfect carbonation and a wonderful tartness.

Hazey golden appearance, excellent head formation. Wild, cidery, yeasty aroma. Plenty of fruitiness on the palate, lemon and orange, sour puckery second half with plenty of acidity in the finish. Long sour fruity aftertaste.

375ml bottle, Batch 002 mail ordered from the brewery. I opened this one very, very cold per RR’s recommendation (they said so due to such high carbonation. Pours a cloudy pale golden with a staying creamy one finger head. While still very cold, the aroma has quite a bit of sour funk. I also smell some apples and leather. I’ll wait until this warms up to continue. The oak does become more apparent with a fair amount of yeast. Flavor is much the same with some very nice fruity sweetness and a pleasant vinous quality as well. It is fairly acidic, but the sweetness don’t make this overbearing at all. I feel this would be a transition beer to bret and oak (though not bourbon) aged beers. The finish is dry which is somewhat winelike and earthy. Light to medium body, moderate soft creamy carbonation. Quite the tasty brew.

Exceptionally tart barrel-aged Belgian...very spritzy...almost dancing on your tongue. Big sour, yeastiness...with typical earthy notes and weird Belgian sour/tartness. Wine barrel makes itself known mainly in the oaky finish. Funky but fun!

Pours a hazy rich golden color with a very light bubbly white head. Very effervescent and inviting looking. A very thick, rich, acidic orange smell is present. Get other semblances of different citrus fruits as well. Taste is pretty sour but blended well with the orange peel, and slight bitterness. I could drink this all the time, it is so refreshing. The spices mixed with the acidity are really very enjoyable with this beer. They did an awesome job here!

Gold. Well aged bottle. Stunning, sour aroma of funk (brett), honey, melon, wood and dry, tropical fruits. Lightly bodied. Quite flavoful. Wheaty, barnyard, leather, nice brett character, spices (possibly) along with a dry, almost winey (sauv blanc), oaked finish. Nice.
