Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

draft @ Skunk Train 2009! Great oaky funky aromas, citrusy, tartness on the nose. Pours cloudy blonde with a thick white head. Crisp vibrant tartness with citrusy flavors, apple skins, great level of sourness and just so easy to drink! Excellent!

Bottle shared at Moosetoberfest 09. Poured a hazy golden yellow with a smaller fizzy white head. Aroma is great with lots of sour fruity funky notes, lots of sour peach and apricott. Mediu bodied with very very lively carbonation, some champagne characteristics from all the carbonation. Flavor was slightly vinous, awfully sour, slightly funky and fruity and a hint of oak. Really nice stuff, nah this is great stuff.

Batch 3. Tremendous beer. Aroma of vanilla from the oak shot trough with brett and tartness. Great flavor that is not overpoweringly sour, but is super complex. World class.

12.7 oz bottle. Batch 001. My 50th rating! Hazy golden pear with a thin white head. Incredible aroma of pear and banana. Starts with a high carb mouthfeel that melts into sour apple and fresh lemon juice. Oak keeps it from getting too tart. Now I’m starting to regret having this for my 50th. Hoping I can find another to age for a few years.

12oz batch 001 from DarkElf. Pours a hazy dark yellow color with a foamy white head. Nose is spicy and peppery. Taste is quite spicy, bits of orange peel and citrus juice are present, finishes with a nice bitterness throughout the entire mouth.

I drank this one by myself and loved every second of it. Perfect for me. Lots of nice white wine, grapes, and citrus and nice bubbles. Almost champagne like. Nice and smooth and wet with a crisp dry finish.
