Oak barrel aged batch no. 001. ABV 7.25%. Hazy orange hued blond ale having no discernable head. Average carbonation. Light fruity aroma. Light-to-medium bodied that starts dry with light fruitiness and tiny sweet malt. Finishes dry and clean with light oak wood flavor. Very nice blond ale, similar to a Belgium golden ale but lighter in flavor and complexity. Acknud (781), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA

Easily on of my best in a long time! Poured in a wine glass. Had to share the bottle with the missus. Cloudy yellow pour with a fizzy head. Funky aroma. Tastes like a funky sour white wine with some citrus. I want more! Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2007 Slightly funky with a delicous appley twist. Pours a cloudy golden color with medium sized white head.Nose definitly funk, little pear with apple, notes of oak and wine. Mouthfell was extremely mellow just about as smooth as a beer can get. Flavor of apple dominated at first with the oak and some sugary sweetness coming in a bit later. Barely tart at all, I can go etiher way on the tartness and wouldnt have minded more (some) of it here, but it still came across as a great beer without sour. hapjydeuce (771), Del Mar, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Updated: Sep 18, 2008Bottled, Batch 001. Beer #2 of the 2/9 evening D-METAL with jarspag at the Carlsbad pad. Compared this one right after Red Poppy amongst the lineup of epic brews that afternoon. Hazy blond pour with clear edges and an initial micro-head and bountiful carbonation. Some white lacing hanging around for a while. The aroma is vinous with white grape influences and the chardonnay oak very noticeable. Brett yeast funk is a tad less prominent here than in Supplication, Sanctification and Red Poppy, with notes of lemon peel, apricot and pear. The flavor is light fruits and a straightforward oak presence with soured banana and Longan fruits. The brett finish is well-rounded and the bitterness compliments the fruit notes nicely, with some carbonation sting. Dry wine notes hang on the palate for a good while. Bottle of Batch 003 at O’Briens, small rating bump. Hank1980 (764), Athens, Georgia, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Rating #500. Bottle acquired via trade with WeeHeavySD. Pours a hazy apricot color with a frothy white head that leaves plenty of sugary lacing. Looks gorgeous. Smells of chardonnay and underripe fruit. Agressive with the flavors of tangerines and yellow cherries in the taste. Finishes like a dry champagne. Worth celebrating in its own right. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 25, 2006 Thanks, René for sharing this one. Nice hazy golden-yellow beer with small white head. Aroma is fine and refreshing, it has subtile lactic and citric sensations allong with hints of flower bloossems and hints of Greek Yoghurt. The more complex aroma’s come from the woody caracter of the barrels. It has a tart edge with a smooth vanilla accent. The taste is crisp, well ballanced and has a complex refreshing lambik like souriness. It is light to medium boddied but this great brew has so much to offer. The spectrum of the taste sensations is so wide and goes from a light maltyness over some noble wood to lactic yoghurt, sour fruits like (Duindoorn), vanilla, ripe rubarb, lemon zest and some honey. This is what ballance is all about. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2006 Bottle. Pours copper to orange, slightly hazy. I hated the La Folie but this one is much more accessible. Flavors are more complex., there is definitely some oak in there, also the palate and crabonation are champagne like. There is a sourness for sure but is is well balanced wth other flavors.I .liked it better with every sip.
