Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

Bottle. Pours copper to orange, slightly hazy. I hated the La Folie but this one is much more accessible. Flavors are more complex., there is definitely some oak in there, also the palate and crabonation are champagne like. There is a sourness for sure but is is well balanced wth other flavors.I .liked it better with every sip.

I’m going to veer away from the crowd on this one. I found the chardonnay character to completely kill the beer and would advise brewers to avoid this idea. Distinct aroma of white wine and flavors of white wine. Bad combo imho. Go have a glass of white wine instead.

Pours a clear amber color with thin white head. Aroma dominated by tart oak character and light fruit. Soft carbonation up front with a huge oak flavor that is balanced by nice light fruit flavor. Hints of grape, cherry strawberry throughout. Creamy medium-bodied.

Bottle @ Monk’s Cafe, Philadelphia. All I can say to this is WOW....Pours a hazy golden color (at least it looked that way in the low light) with noticeable lacing and a small white head. Aroma is lemon, earth/grass notes, and a definite brett characteristic toward the end. Taste is the same, with an incredible citrus/earth characteristic, a very tart finish (though not distracting), and a wonderful dryness throughout. I think I got a little sweetness and an ever-so-slight bitterness in there - it’s so sublimely balanced and complex. I love it, I absolutely love it, and I need to get more from these guys STAT.

A big yeasty sweet tropical fruit nose came out of this golden brew.Nice spiciness in the finish. Felt it could have used a little more body.

375ml bottle, Batch 001, courtesy of boboski (THANKS Jason)! Pours a perfectly clear and beautiful golden with a slight fizzy white head, slight lacing. Aroma is sour grapes, sour apple, oak, and musty funk; very pleasant, and opens up in the glass nicely! Flavor is more sour apple with some light citrus and oakiness. Palate is light, and medium-thin, good carbonation, and a brief, but satisfying finish. Good stuff!
