Commercial Description:
Is it beer, or is it wine? "Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. But, of course, Temptation is indeed beer. Actually, Temptation is a Blonde Ale Fermented with a special strain of yeast, then aged in French oak chardonnay barrels. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout twelve months of aging. During this aging process, a secondary fermentation occurs using a yeast strain disliked by most brewers and winemakers called Brettanomyces. The "Bret" gives Temptation intriguing characteristics and a pleasant sourness. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle.

Batch 4X2. Pours clear golden, with a lasting two-finger cream-colored head, fine lacing. Citrus, grass, pineapple aroma, very yeasty, with green apple, caramel and farmyard undertones. Medium body, zesty and very tart. Very fruity with flavors of sour apple, orange, and lemon, some spice and biscuit. Light grassy finish, moderately dry, champagne-like.

My 777th rating and my last as a single guy. Wedding 12/11/09. ohh man this was a treat. Pours a cloudy fizzy golden color with a good looking white head. Aroma is sour funky goodness. Flavor is sour, funk, grapefruit and the sourness is very nice. Wow, this is an amazingly complex brew.

On tap at Capone’s. Pours a clear golden yellow. Not much head at all and no lacing. Aroma is sour but fairly mild. Taste is about the same, sour but mild. A great blend of grapes and under ripe grapes. Goes down way too smooth. I could drink this all day. Sour but not too sour. Mouthfeel is fairly light, like a blond Belgian. Great beer all around. I had it in a 9 oz snifter but could drink much more.

appearance is a murky golden with three finger head and excellent lacing. Nose- sweet white grapes, lemon rinds. Taste- champagne like carbonation, blast of white grape sharpness and green apple sourness. Has a wood/ mineral like dryness to the finish. Really dries out the mouth. Having had the previous two batchs, the brett is definitely more prounounced each time out. Great stuff

Pale yellow tall white head. Aroma is briney and sour. The flavour is almost sickeningly sour. Long dry finish, and very slty. Interesting, but i’m not sure i would drink it again.

From bottle : I’ve been waiting for this. Pours a light golden color, with tons of bubbles, and a massive head. Tons of lace around the glass as the head slowly falls. Sour aroma with some grassy hops. Taste is fantastic. Crisp at the beginning with a sour middle. The end fades very well into a very nice aftertaste. Medium body with some carbonation. Again, the finish is very nice. I love sours....and this baby didnt disappoint.

Bottle sample from FoBAB. Pour is lightly hazy yellow with a fairly large white head. Aroma is acidic, lots of wood, chardonnay, brett, and some grassy notes. Flavor is bretty/ funky up front with the woody chardonnay notes coming up shortly after that. Really thin mouthfeel, at least compared to DDG which I had just tasted. Solid sour, but a little thin and not quite as much complexity as I was hoping.
