WOW, I can’t believe I finally got to try this beer. Thanks to Ughsmash for sharing some of his sample with me for this rating at DLD. Hazy orange-red with long lasting medium beige head. Aroma is really funky amd a little earthy with red fruit, pretty nice. Exquisite sour flavor with dirty, cherry, medium sweetness, really well done and balanced. Medium body with a little pucker, more would be nice but that is just a preference and doesn’t take away from the actual beer itself. An aesome beer, who knew that I would be trying so many sours at an imperial stout release.

Sep 5, 2008 Pours a flat dark caramel. Interesting tart and funk nose with a bit of cherry like sweetness. The flavor is quite the same, with a delicate mouthfeel and complexity, with a light oak finish. Extremely smooth and no sign of alcohol.

Sep 5, 2008 From my backlog at DLD ’08. Many thanks to whomever brought this! Beautiful golden-hue with a bit of orange. Wonderful head with some nice lacing. A bit of sour fruit, cherry pits, balsamic vinegar and funk. Typical Russian River goodness and complexity in the flavour. Quite a bit of funk with a good balance of grain and bitterness. Bit of residual tart sweetness on backend, but quickly changing to a nice dry finish.

Sep 1, 2008 Many thanks to pepsican for bringing this bottle to iowaherkeye’s’ farewell to Iowa’ tasting. Very generous. Poured a hazy amber-orange color. the head was off white and left some decent lace behind on the glass. invigorating funk-o-rama aroma with a splash of red wine vinegar and dry aged cheese. Medium bodied with mouth watering moderate to high acidity. Unripe fruit, red wine vinegar, and oak flavors. There was also a delicate hint of booze. Wow.

Aug 31, 2008 Thanks Odeed for the bottle. You rock! Murky brown/amber pour with a thin white head. Aroma was heavy oak, caramel, toffee. Flavor was caramel, toffee, wine tannins, vanilla, oak, rum, limes, flower, butter, booze, maple syrup, lemons. I’m serious. Sour, dry finish. This was oddly complex with a ton of things jumping out at me and throughout the experience. Very complex but somehow pulls itself together just enough. Very good!

Aug 29, 2008 Bottle at Toronado during the RBSG Pub Crawl Tour on 08/01/2008. Very clear golden body with a small white head. Lovely sour with fruit and faint caramel. Big sour flavor, barnyard, sour fruit, light caramel. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation.
