Sacramento India Pale Ale

Everything checks in just average here with this IPA. Nothing really West Coast about it in fact. Aroma was mostly sweet but there was a little citrus hops fighting thru the malt. Appearance was deep burnt orange color, huge friggin’ head. Popped the bottle and suprised to have a gusher. Mouthfeel was really pleasant with a smoothness that is hard to find in some IPA’s. Flavors were a little unbalanced for my liking as the malt profile was kickin’ tail on the hop character. Not incredibly overbalanced though. Overall, a nice drinkable IPA.

Aroma of hoppy citrus. Like grapefruit. Amber gold color with a decent white head. Fairly light IPA. Light citrus and floral hops for start. Thin mouthfeel. Seems well balanced (for me) with underlying malt all the way to the hoppy finish. May be a bit of pine here, but it’s primarily citrus hop to the end. Basically refreshing.

4 ounce sample on tap at the Sacramento brewpub. Hempy, grapefruity, citrus hop aroma with some piney notes present as well. No malts are really appreciated, though. Transparent dark gold/light copper color with a smallish white head. I would like this to be a bit darker in color. Lots of hempy, floral , bitter hops up front. Followed by some light maltiness. Not overly bitter, but rather flavorful. Spicy hops round out the flavor. A tad thin-bodied.

Bottled. Nice looking clear, dark copper color with a wispy white head. Malty and very floral hop aroma. A bit thin on malt in the flavor. Hoppiness is good but it’s a bit one dimensional in that it’s all hops with no malt.

There was a hoppy aroma and a corresponding hoppy and buttery flavor. Overall, not very well balanced, but quite drinkable.

Smewhat small IPA, more pale ale. Slightly cascade metallic some mild hop notes with citrus acid. just average pale ale.

West coast ipa, citrus, grapefruit & passion fruit with a touch of cat pee (in a good way if that is possible) from either chinook or simcoe hops. Nice big aroma with firm bitterness. Very little malt presence but the nice aromatic hop notes make up for it.

Exceptionally glowing red-orange appearance, piles of long-legged head. Mango, papaya and assorted citrus fruits in the aroma, also some red fruits (cherry, raspberry). Overall a very tart yet full aroma. Flavor continues with some nice tartness cheerful but bready, winey base malts. Finishes with a nice bitterness and fairly dry.
