Wow, this is the second beer today that I’ve rated that has a 69 average. Nice. The pour is hazy brownish ruby, like clay mud, as such, with aroma of caramel malt, toffee, big hops, and cabernet/port notes. Tastes caramel malty, with rauchy, cherry, cabernet, and finishing hop notes. Pretty hefty palate on this, and complex for this style. Thank you, sir, may I have another? Nutty, roasty flavors dominate with a bit of hop bitterness. Minimal to no ale yeast fruitiness - in fact I was surprised this is an ale. Reminds me more of a dunkel or other dark lager than an ale. Nice, easy drinker. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Beautiful, clear, morphed mahogany/copper/ruby/burnt orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Nutty, earthy aroma with notes of wood, black tea and straw. Thin, bland flavor. Slightly sweet up front and then, a couple seconds later, moderate bitterness provides decent balance. Almost medium-bodied with prickly carbonation. Crisp, mildly sweet, nutty finish. Thanks to IrishBoy for shipping this beer to me! cbkschubert (1981), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
