A dark color, beautiful appearance. Flavor is thick and sweet. A bit of oatmeal. Decent, but not great.

22, capped and foiled. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! Jet black. Dense, creamy, moussy tan head. Decent sheeting lace. Big chocolate nose. Mild creamy medium body. Chocolate and cola and nuts and grain husk on the mid-palate. Long dry finish.

A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. A sweetish lactic stout, chocolate, cherries, and a bit of chickpea puree. A roasted chocolate with acidulated fruits, past its prime. Medium bodied. Tasted April 2007.

A very good beer by all accounts, but probably the least exciting Imperial I’ve ever had. Good chocolate, coffee, nut-malt flavor, but a little weak in all aspects; flavor, booze, and thickness/viscosity. Very watery for a RIS. Still enjoyable, however. Just easily outdone by most other brewers of this style.

22 oz. bottle - pours dark brown with medium body; tan head along the edges; all roast in the aromas with hints of coffee; very rich on the the nose and flavors; creamy, velvety body; so good and quite surprising; dry finish and a terrific RIS all around; not super strong, but great texture , lots of flavor and perfectly balanced; proves you don’t need to be 12%+ to be among the big boys

From a bomber. The body is perfectly black with a light tan head. The aroma is strange artificial caramel with some slightly souring bitter chocolate. There is a raisin character. The taste has some light prunes and a little bit of strange dark chocolate. This is weirdly tart and not a pleasure.

On tap at SBC brew bub. Slight aroma of coffee. Pours jet black with little head. Flavors of coffee, a little chocolate, alcohol and roasted malt. A little thin for a stout. Nice sipping beer.

22 oz bottle thanks to Jason for bringing back from Sacramento. Nice roasty aromas. Some chocolate coming off this really dark pour with nice tan head. Flavors fell off a bit with some sour that I hadn’t expected. Actually decent once I got used to it. Somewhat watery though on the finish. Just OK
