Aroma of caramel. Tastes a little sour, with a thin feel and some malt evident. Aftertaste of coffee. Leaves me wanting to brush my teeth. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2005 Milk chocolate aroma with hints of nut and roasted malt. Fully opaque body. Small tan head and nice lace. Fairly mellow for a Russian Imp. Stout. Tastes as it smells with milk chocolate being the active ingredient. Tastes like a milk stout. Doesn’t have the super sweet richness of other Russian Imp. Stouts I’ve had. A nice beer; just different. Underrated. marcus (1885), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2005 There was an initial chocolate flavor with a coffee finish and a slight amount of carbonation. This beer had some flaws, but was the best beer I sampled at the brewery. Odeed (1677), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 12, 2005 Bottled. Clear, dark reddish brown; opaque in the glass--almost no head (tan). Full bodied, very little soft, coarse carbonation. More wet than dry, but does dry out, moreso as it warms. Some watery character. Aroma dominated by molasses, roastiness and vanilla, with dark fruits, alcohol, chocolate and bread mixed in. Flavor is roasty. Light alcohol, yeasty sour of dough and sweat, baker’s chocolate, hazelnut, lots of malts and alcoholic warmth. Finish is toasted grains. Dominant flavors are sour dough and sweat with vanilla and roasty throughout. I really enjoyed the sourness of this ale mixed with and kind of in balance with the roastiness. Closer to a stout than an imperial, but certainly somewhere in between. Not a fantastic beer and filled with flaws, but very enjoyable and unique. hayduke (1659), Eureka, California, USA

I don’t really care for the smell all that much. It kind of reminds me of chocolate malt with a hint of coffee. Sort of a sweet taste. Odd aftertaste. Bitter, but not a nice bitter. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
