Dark colored with a big bubbled halo of suds..roasty aroma with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla...smooth vanilla and coffee flavors over strong roastedness..too strong for an imperial IMO, not much body here...rather thin indeed...this was pretty uncomplex for a style where even the average beer is somewhat complex.

Bottle @ RBSG 04’ Grand Tasting
Aroma is roasted & astringent with lots of oak & soy sauce. The flavor is full of chocolate & light fig. Finishes balanced, a big off taste overall.

Pours pitch black with very little head. Nose is subdued - only a smidgeon of roast escapes the dark fluid. Taste is a bit of a surprise as it’s has a bubblegum sweetness mixed in with the chocolate and coffee. It could use a bit more jab, punch as it’s a bit watery.

RBSG 2004: Dark brown with no real head. Burnt chocolate with a port quality, starts lightly sweet, ends a bit sweeter than that. Medium bodied.

Dark black with a small tan head. The nose is very roasted with some earthy hops. The flavor is very roasted with some plum and raisin hints. I didn’t taste any chocolate or coffee at all. This seems more like a heavy Irish Stout than an Imperial Stout.
