Commercial Description:
This is one beast of a beer you don’t want to mess with. We brew our Sac-Squatch Scotch ale using smoked peat malt to produce an extremely roasty, big bodied, high alcohol ale (7%abv). So tangle with this creature if you must, but don’t blame us if you feel a little furry in the morning. When putting hair on your chest just ain’t enough.

Bottle. A dark brown translucent color with a laced brown head. An earthy smoked malt aroma. Smooth on the palate with a smoked meaty flavor.

Bottle... Very dark crimson ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The malty, earthy aroma wafts notes of wood and milk chocolate up toward my nose. Medium sweet, vinous flavor with lots of tawny port. Bittered just enough to keep the brew from becoming cloying, but it’s still malty overall and true to style. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes sweet, but slightly tannic. Thanks, IrishBoy, for the trade!

12 oz. bottle via trade with IrishBoy - What an ugly label. Pours a brown color with an average size light tan head. Has a funky, smokey, meaty, malt aroma. Man, the flavor is the same as the aroma. It’s like drinking liver. Medium body. I hope its just a bad bottle. Thanks Richard.

Same smoke flavor as the red horse, but to a lesser degree. Malty brew, but on the watery side. Alcohol is well hidden, eh!

Body is a brown, ruby with not much of a head. Aroma is supprising like chocolate, toffee, raisens, dates. Taste is sweet, with smoke, a bit of the chocolate, dried fruit showing up. Interesting beer.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours a clear, deep mahogany color with little to no head. Sweet and malty aroma, hints of maple, flowers, corn syrup and peat. Sweet malty flavor with smoke, more peat and brown sugar. Medium body, flat with almost no carbonation whatsoever detectable.

Thin head and little lace, however great flavor. All in all a very nice ale.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Pours a thick syrupy dark ruby color. Slightly sweet aroma. Some roasted coffee as well. Slightly woody scent. Sweet malty flavor. Some roasted bitterness. Very smooth mouthfeel. Some good roasted qualities. Seems to be lacking a bit. Not bad though.
