Commercial Description:
Cask; Status uncertain. Also available in 2 bottled versions - bottle conditioned and cool filtered.
Light golden ale brewed with Maris Otter barley and Torrefied wheat, plus Fuggles and Goldings hops. The delicate balance of citrus and smooth malty flavours with a crisp finish makes this a refreshing ale for all occasions.

Bottle conditioned, 500ml from Asda, Milton Keynes as Foxfield Finest Regional Blonde. Clear gold with white head, a very careful pour required. Mine was quite dry and citrusy, maybe a touch too sharp and tinny, but much more refined than it’s sister beer. Reasonable and tasty.

Bottle from Asda, Wheatley, Oxon 27-07-09 This version was Foxfield Finest Regional Blonde Ale 4.3% Pours gold with white head its full of sediment. There is more than a touch of sourness on the nose. Taste is tangy but actually more sour, this isn’t, great possibly infected, will possibly try again at some point A4 A2 F4 P2 Ov8

50cl bottle from Asda, Earley, Berkshire. Straw with a fast fading white head; moderate carbonation; slightly musty lemon aroma; creamy texture with some citrus and light caramel malts; well-balanced gentle bitter finish. A rather elegant and refined beer, and excellent value for money.

Bottle (bottle conditioned), May 2008. Hazy blonde. Rather fizzy. Clean, dry mouthfeel. Clean. Some dry, toasty malt. Slightly earthy hops. Drinkable enough but not a particularly vibrant Golden Ale.

Bottle @ home. [ Courtesy chris_o ].
Light unclear light yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is light malty, toasted, wheat, moderate hoppy, citrus shell, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Bitternes is strange. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (130508)

Cask at the Elmdon Dial, Elmdon, Essex. Saffron only began brewing in April 2006. This, their Golden Ale, has good colour and a white head. In other respects it’s not up to standard, with little aroma, taste or bitterness. Limp and watery, I’m afraid.
