Commercial Description:
A well balanced, full flavored, amber ale. It has a rich, malty body with a pleasant caramel character derived from a specialty Caravienne malt. A complex hop aroma, with a hint of floral and citrus comes from a combination of Cascades and Liberty hops. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Amber Ale is best consumed at 50 - 55° Fahrenheit.

I had this beer on draft in Houston and was very pleased as I had not heard of it before. The aroma was solid with citrus and pine hops, maybe some fruit, and some caramel malt. The color was amber-gold and it was a bit cloudy with a moderate off-white head. The taste was mostly sweet, lightly sour and it had a wet body.

Color is a pale amber, thin white head. Aroma is pale malts, light crystal malt, not much other then that. Taste is fairly simple, light caramel, faint hoppy background, decent malt body. Mouthfeel is slightly fizzy.

Bottle from Specs, League City, TX; Nose of light caramel malt with some grassy and floery hops; amber with a medium and lasting and glass lacing beige head; flavor has caramel with some light banana esters; and some light hop bitterness shows in the finish; decent amber, would be a good everyday session beer.

thanks to fantomas23. malty with some citrus notes. Not very amber, more of a gold color. malty, with some roasty notes, and a good hop character, then goes back to a malty with roasty flavors.

Pours a lighter shade of gold than I was expecting with a small white head that is gone in 15 seconds or so. The taste is very pleasant with a nice nuttiness to the malt and the cascades being really fresh tasting. I agree with what many have said. This beer is definitely more consistent on draft when I can find it. However, the more I drink from Saint Arnolds the more I love the guys.

After arriving home from the Tennesee Spring(ish) Tasting on 3/11/2007, I discovered that a bottle of Saint Arnold Amber Ale somehow ended up in my cooler. I’m not sure who I got the bottle from (sorry!), but I really appreciate it...

3/20/2007: If somebody poured a glass of this and handed it to, I would have sworn that is was a pale ale based on the appearance, aroma, and flavor! Saint Arnold Amber Ale pours a hacy marigold color with a quickly fading off-white head. It has a generous level of visible carbonation. There is a faint pineapple sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is somewhat generic at first (mediocre maltiness) with some yeast throughout and lightly roasted flavor in the finish. The flavor seems weak overall, but improves somewhat as the beer warms up. The finish also has a floral hop flavor and a gentle bitterness. The body is medium-light and the palate seems a little thin and watery with too much carbonation. Not a bad beer, but I really wouldn’t consider this an amber ale in any regard... 12 oz bottle.

Bottle from decaturstevo - Thanks! Pours a light amber with a lacy pale yellow head. Floral hop aroma with some nutty malt to hold it up. Medium-light body with medium carbonation. The citrus hops show up early in the taste, along with the caramel, nutty malt. Nice "I like hops" kind of finish.
