Commercial Description:
A beautiful, deep copper brown ale. It has a full, malty body with hints of chocolate, a touch of sweetness and a light hop flavor. A complex malt character is created by combining five different types of malts. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Brown Ale is best consumed at 45-50° Fahrenheit.

Rerate 4/1/2008. They have done a great job with this beer over the years. Not to mention my appreciate from brown had grown. Flavors a nice and balanced, with toffee mixing in with brown sugar, nuts, hops and malts. Good beer. Brewery. Not real big on the brown ales...always a bit too sweet for me. Nice light brown with little head. Nose is sweet, of course, with fruit and nuts. Tastes of toasted malts, caramel, little chocolate and some hops....and of course sweet. Not my fav, but many brown lovers like it quite a bit.

Clear light brown, barely any head. Aroma is sweet malts, brown sugar. Taste is tons of toasted malts, hints of fruity and bitter hops. Buttery. Bitterness is just slightly metallic. Watery mouthfeel.

Pours light brown with a thin white head. Smells of yogurt, caramel, and sugar cane. Tastes slightly nutty with chocolate milk elements popping out.

Pours with a frothy tan head that sits atop a brown beer that shows a hazy ruby color when held up to the light. The aroma is a mix of fruity notes of cherry, toasted malt, a light astringent burnt grain note; really the fruity note dominates though. The taste is light and sweet up front with a finish of stale malt. There is quite a bit of fruitiness here, with notes of cherry dominant. The finish is lightly phenolic and astringent with a bit of bitterness as well. For some reason this does not jive with my taste-buds, oh well.

Thanks to Crash for bringing this back for me from Texas. Pours a dark coppery orange with a small, off-white head that is mostly diminishing. Very hazy and leaves a very nice lacing. A lot of caramel and toffee in the aroma with a slight nectarine hoppiness. Light chocolate malts in the initial flavor with tangerine and dough. Finish is moderately bitter and a touch metallic. Medium carbonation, lending just the right amount of tingle to the palate.
