Commercial Description:
A beautiful, deep copper brown ale. It has a full, malty body with hints of chocolate, a touch of sweetness and a light hop flavor. A complex malt character is created by combining five different types of malts. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Brown Ale is best consumed at 45-50° Fahrenheit.

bottle: Very dissapointed with the last sixer from St. A., a brewery I’ve supported from Day 1. This beer has thinned out over the years and has lost it’s body and luster. Try Real Ale for a nice Texas brown ale.

Pours a light translucent slightly reddish brown with a thin head that fades. Aroma is of sweet toasty malt with a slight chocolate, and a slight nuttiness. Flavor is a nice mild but fullfilling sweet toasty malt, very mild milk chocolate, and a bit of dry nuttiness. Mild very gentle grassy/herbal hops clean away some of the maltiness on the finish. Nice session brown.

Thin flavor with the same aftertaste that I got from every other beer I’ve tried from this brewer. This is an ok brew, but not even my favorite of the brown ales I’ve had. It’s a good every day beer, and would be good on a hot day if you don’t necessarily like the tasteless light beers.

Poured from the tap, this was a clear, reddish brown beer with a medium foamy head that dissipated too quickly leaving no lace at all. The aroma was of sweet malt with a hint of roast nuts and toast. Hops were apparent as well in the citrus notes. The flavor was subdued, somewhat flat although one could detect malt and a slight bit of caramel.

Poured clear and a pale orange/brown. Taste is washed out, as was the nose . No head, and for a low ABV, it has a strong alcohol taste.?

Clean cola hue with a small but lastling head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of walnut, carmelized malting, grassy and aromatic hops, and a touch of plum. The taste starts sweet with carmel notes at the forefront but a good dose of mild bitters holds it together. The feel is fizzy and finished chalky. Your run of the mill brown ale, still quaffable enough to drink with ease. Bottle via Kevin.

Brownish-amber and clear body. Off-white thin creamy head. Aroma has milk chocolate w/ fermented alfalfa / silage (probably some kind of hop component?). Slightly hoppy sweet "brown ale" flavor... smooth buttery caramel and silage shows up again with a slight hop bitterness. Sweet and drinkable, but annoying after a while.

thx to kawa, bottle, smelled malty and sweet, almost reminded me of a dopplebock. pour was a mix of brown and orange shades, a little bit of fuzzy head, but nothing substantial. flavor was solid, with malts and slight hop tones making up the most of the taste. the chocolates were there if you look pretty hard, but mainly came through just as a generic sweetness. medium body and mouthfeel. i liked this quite a bit, easily the best of the 4 st arnolds i got from walt.
