| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2005 Light, fruity, fizzy, apples and earthy maltiness, end not-quite-dry, and nondescript. An easy drinker. Brown-red color, some fizzy head that diminished. Tannins. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 14, 2005 Thanks to TChrome for this. Pours deep copper, almost ruby with smallish white head. Aroma of malt, dark fruit, cabernet, slight female gymnastics arena. Tastes malty, with some choc, hops, some fruitiness (berries), and some dry red winey qualities. Finishes crisp and semi-dry. Somewhat lacking in complexity and mouthfeel, but not bad. I just had the brown after the amber, and I placed it to the right of the amber. I knew an Amber Brown in high school, and man did she put out! Ray1975 (251), Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 12, 2005 Poured a medium brownish red color with a small head. Malty and nutty aroma. Sweet flaver with a little bitterness and a carboard finish. I’m not a big fan of brown ales but this is not bad. Brew4Dug (136), Houston, Texas, USA

However, the Saint Arnold version of the is up to par with the Newcastle and Samuel Smith Nut Brown in my opinion. It also is a bargian at $6/six-pack if you live in Texas. Very consistant every time that I have consumed it, and I can see why Brock remains dedicated to brewing this Brown year-round. I just wish he would do the same for the Christmas Ale. Aroma slightly sweet and malt, hint of vegetation. Mostly sweet, caramel oriented flavors, very light bitterness. Almost more of a bock than a brown. Interesting. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 8, 2005 Sweet and caramelly malt aroma is pleasant if not terribly exciting. Clear copper-brown with shy, white, fully-diminishing head. Sweet caramelly flavour with some chocolate and a touch of alcohol in the finish. Fairly light bodied and quite still. Bottle. Thanks, Kawa! Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
