Commercial Description:
A beautiful, deep copper brown ale. It has a full, malty body with hints of chocolate, a touch of sweetness and a light hop flavor. A complex malt character is created by combining five different types of malts. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Brown Ale is best consumed at 45-50° Fahrenheit.

Had on tap at the Ginger Man in Austin, Tx. Dark orange fading to light brown appearance. Decent sized off-white head. Brief aroma of sweet caramel. Flavor has some nutty notes with a bit of toffee and caramel. The mouthfeel was a tad thin and too carbonated for my liking. Overall though, still a most quaffable brew.

Clear amber coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of pure raisins with some malt and little else. Light-bodied; Strong toffee flavours with raisins & pit fruit noticeable. Malt in the aftertaste with nothing else but bitterness. Overall, dissapointing, but thanks to Jon for the treat from his past travels down to Texas! I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased and donated to me by Jon[R888710] in Texas on 30-July-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Bottle Pours a clear mahogany, with hardly any head and the the most pathetic excuse for lacing that I have seen in a long time. Aroma is a nutty malt combo. Flavors are dark malts and not much hops and slightly sweet. Feel is moderate and carbonation is fairly soft. The ABV sneeks in the taste a bit for only 5.3%. FInish is pretty quick with a slight earthy taste. Thanks to Kaggie97 for the trade.

Bottle from 123456Green Thanks! Malt, Caramel, Cherries, with a slight note of chocolate. Thin (even for a brown), it has some complexity to it though, flavor starts heavily malted, then balances out to a nice balance with a butter/malt/caramel taste. Overall it’s a decent brown.

A very strange brew that has all the key characteristics of a good brown ale, but the yeast, or the water ruin the flavor by tainting with a bad flavor on the back of the palate.

Sweet malty nose. Nice roasted caramel flavor. Light to medium body and a very easy drinker. Decent brown.

A very nice, medium bodied brew that goes great with goat, ostrich, or just a simple ol’ plate of prairie oysters. Nice malty offering with plenty of chocolate, spice, and hops to make it interesting. Much better on tap at the brauerei, as it cuts down on the "copper" tones of the bottled product.

reddish brown color that pours with an off white head. Roasted grain aroma with caramel notes. Not a strong aroma. The flavor is toasty. the body is light. This is a good ’every day’ beer.
