Commercial Description:
A beautiful, deep copper brown ale. It has a full, malty body with hints of chocolate, a touch of sweetness and a light hop flavor. A complex malt character is created by combining five different types of malts. It has a rich, creamy head with a fine lace. The light fruitiness, characteristic of ales, is derived from a proprietary yeast strain. Saint Arnold Brown Ale is best consumed at 45-50° Fahrenheit.

Muddy with tiny off white head. Sweet fruity aroma with caramel, roasted malt and hoppy notes. Flavor goes same way with chocolate notes.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy brown with a fully diminished white head. Hops and malt aroma, slight spice note. Flavour is mild spiced and with an underlying caramel malt base. Ends nicely spiced and caramel malty lingering.

Poured a semi-cloudy amber with a semi-fizzy frothy off-white head. Pretty pleasant aroma of some light toffee, caramel, some lemon, and some grassy hops. Flavor follows, with a mild toffee sweetness mixing with somewhat lemony and grassy hops. Taste is somewhat reminiscent of an ESB, and is pretty easy-drinking if not especially profound or complex.

12 oz bottle. Hazy orange brown with a smooth, bone head. Nose is wood, grapes and peanut butter. Almost medium with a slight carb tingle. Taste is brown sugar and red licorice. Hints of tobacco and cola. Cardboard aftertaste. Browns not my favorite and this one especially odd.

Nice dark orangy brown. Thin head, and medium carbonation on the palate. Aroma is hard to detect, although my spring allergies might be responsible for that. Malty nutty in flavor with a slight hops bitterness. Not bad for a brown ale.

Pour dark brown. Smells like oat malt. Good lacing, tastes like goog (GOOD) cereal grains. Full bodied. A true brown ale, and coming from me, you know what this means, this is a gem of a brew. Slippery finish, not a bad thing.

This is a very solid example of a brown ale. I thought it was very well balanced and had a lot of flavor. I would buy again.
