| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown amber color with a medium frothy off white head. The aroma is a strong malt and caramel. Very good lacing on this one. The taste is a very sweet malt with a clean finish. I really enjoyed this brown ale from saint arnold. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 6, 2007 The St. Arnold brown (bottle) seemed like a much better version of Newcastle (in every way). Although it did have a nice, deep brown appearance, the beer seemed a little filtered and light, the same complaint I had of St. Arnold’s wheat beer. At any rate, this beer had some sweetness, some spice, some malt, and some roasted nut flavor. I used to think that the nasty alcohol and dirt taste was a problem with Newcastle, but, now, I guess I can see that it’s just part of the Englishy-type brown ale style. Of course, that doesn’t mean I like it any more. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

No head, flavor a bit small, bubbles float up rather small. Go for it. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear, amber color with a thin, white head and no lacing. Did not really look like a brown ale. Sweet caramel and malty aroma. Nice mouthfeel. Sweet caramel flavor with a malty aftertaste. Tastes like a brown ale, yet it’s not too flavorful. The flavor that it does have is good though.
