Goodgrief (993), Middletown, Delaware, USA May 14, 2008 Beer pours an almost ruby red brown color, crystal clear, with almost no head and lacing. The flavor was very sweet for a brown ale, almost bock-like in it. Some off flavor was also present. A very high level of carbonation left the tongue rather tingly. An okay beer, but hardly worth the effort of toting back from Texas to Delaware. Oh well.
GAManiac (200), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a dark amber that has an bright orange tint when held up to the light - doesn’t look much like a brown ale really. The head is small and short-lived and leaves a ring with no lacing. It doesn’t smell much like a brown ale either with a dominant candy apple sweetness, very fruity with little dark malt or hop aroma at all. Super sweet taste as well with more caramel and toffee than the aroma suggests. There is a hint of hop bitterness in the finish as well, though not much. The mouthfeel is creamy and medium-bodied with good carbonation. This is a very unique take on a brown ale though it’s probably not one of my favorites. johnnysmoke (32), Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 A good brown ale, decent flavor, but a little under hopped for me. Clean and refreshing and that means a lot. texasbartender (124), Sugarland, Texas, USA May 14, 2008 The beer poured a light clear amber with an off white head. The nose was a light mix of caramel and fruit. The taste was watery and washed out, but I could pickup on some note of caramel and malt. I found the beer it be drinkable but not something I would write home about. Wait this is the same post I wrote for the Amber, well they tasted the same so why not? jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA May 9, 2008 Murky copper color with a head that disappeared to a whisp too quickly. Sweet grainy nose with an almost apricot fruitiness to it. Sweet beer with lots of caramel, a wet grain maltiness, and tea. Really not a very interesting beer.
