12 oz bottle thanks to an extra by lb4lb. Pours a clear red/amber with a white head that fades over time. Nose is malty. Candy, red fruit, a hint of chocolate and malt notes that remind me of cheap whiskey. Fruity flavors, a little too sweet. Cherry, pale malts with a touch of alcohol warmth. Almost no spice for a Christmas ale. Meh. ok.

A hearty strong ale, but a bit off balance. They need to back off on the hoping a bit, and this coming from an IIPA lover. It adds just a little much to the already very bold malt flavor and alcohol warmth. Pours a deep golden color with a nice white head do the the high carbonation levels, also detracting from the palate. All in all, a good winter warmer, but not balanced well enough.

Bottle from lb4lb. Pour is a dark auburn/ brownish color with a decent white head. Aroma of spices, bready malt and some sweetish candy. Flavor of spice and quite earthy. Medium/ light body and highly carbonated.

Bottle from lb4lb. Aroma of sweet and grainy malt with some clove spiciness. Pours nice, clean amber. The flavor seems a bit odd to me. A big grain characteristic at first, some spice midpalate and then finishes with a sharp alcoholic hotness. Just a bit out of balance with the flavors not integrating all that well. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Thanks Deniz!

Dark amber with big foamy head. Unique malty aroma...I didn’t find it stale, but rather estery malt, like buttered biscuits. Flavor is dominated by malt, with a hint of banana/ester fruitiness and some unique "spice". Herbal hops are very mild, and the aftertaste is smooth and malty. A retasting of the draft version (2008 batch) makes me rate the palate higher as it is very nice and smooth. The flavor and overall impression are also much higher. I was quite impressed.

11-5-07 bottle. Translucent ruby red with foamy head. Stale malt funk. Not a strong or pleasant smell. Difficult to swallow - not an enjoyable flavor for me. It seems to just attack the taste buds and mouth. Alcohol in the aftertaste - which is perhaps the most pleasant aspect of what otherwise may be a dreadful aftertaste.

Kinda lame. Pours a deep amber brown color. Smells like malt and stale hops. Taste is like an american amber plus some strange spices. Weak ale.
