This beer pours a deep amber color with a thin tan head leaving no lacing down the sides. The smell is kinda of musty, like an old ale or something. Can’t really place it. But It is very interesting. The flavors are not very complex but it does have a good warming sensation and spicy mouthfeel to it. This is an intriguing beer! Cheers

Pretty dang good... a little bit sweet, masks the higher alcohol content. Definite malt flavor as well. Good looking beer as well... nice full brown color. 12 oz.. bottle.

This beer struck me as being overly light for a Christmas beer, and is rather thing from a mouthfeel perspective. This beer also struck me as overly light in hoppiness, and a bit unbalanced in terms of too much malted milk ball character. Beer pours a sparkling amber color with excellent head formation (cumulus and towering and composed of tiny bubbles). Aroma is lightly fruity hoppiness with too much maltiness for my liking. Mouthfeel is rather flat. Flavor is a light sweet maltiness with a whiff of sweet hoppiness. I’m not really impressed with this beer. Not really recommended, but not too bad (can’t say too much negative about it).

12 oz. bottle from 2004. Pours a orange/amber hue with a slight head. Malty, spicy sweet smell. Medium to full bodied with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Nice malty, spicy sweet and black pepper taste. A very tasty, ultra smooth drinking brew. Jan 2005.

Clear copper pour with an offwhite head. Metallic toffe malt aroma with a hint of spice as well. Taste is light toffee flavored malt again, with a light note of spices coming into the flavor as well and a light bitterness. Slightest hint of alcohol shows, but still very drinkable. Decent beer all around, but just not my favorite style.

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby color with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is very sweet with spicy hops and pine. Decent lacing on this one. The taste is very smooth malt with a spicy finish and hides the alcohol well. Very easy to drink and a great winter brew. An excellent English Strong Ale from Saint Arnold.

Finally arrived at stores this week! 12 oz bottle. Pours a clear brownish-red color with a thin, off-white head which dissipates very quickly, but not completely. Left a little lacing on the glass. Smell is of malts and some spice. Taste is slightly sweet because of the malt and can taste the spices, but not overwhelming. Some alcohol warmth in the chest after swallowing, but not too much. Very pleasant brew, especially for a winter beer. Will definitely buy again.
