Commercial Description:
Reserve No. 2: Abbey American Quadruppel Cases Made: 787 Date Brewed: April 26, 2006 Date Bottled: July 18, 2006 Original Gravity: 1.093 Final Gravity: 1.022 Alcohol: 9.3% ABV Description: This big beer goes beyond existing styles. It is best described as an Abbey American quadruppel. It was brewed with a combination of Maris Otter, Munich, Victory and Special B malts. This beer is also the first time we have used an adjunct, in this case brown sugar, in the brewkettle. It is hopped with Perle, Liberty and Saaz, going for a pleasant, balancing but not overly aggressive bitter. We then split the wort from the kettle into 2 fermenters, pitching one with an American Ale yeast and the other with a Belgian Trappist yeast. Near the end of fermentation, the tanks were combined to finish out. The beer was conditioned for 12 weeks and then packaged unfiltered. This beer has a nose of malt, fruit and spice with a light touch of hops. The taste is a combination of malt with a warming alcoholic feel, lots of fruit, light clove and spice and a very pleasant hop bitter. While this beer is ready to be enjoyed immediately, it should develop well in the bottle over time.

Bottle... GABF RB Tasting ’06... Murky orange ale with a small, frothy, off-white head. Both the nose and flavor are sweet with fruity esters and spicy phenols. Medium to full-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Finishes fruity-sweet and tangy. Thanks to Lumpy for supplying the bottle!

Shit, I wrote my review of Divine Reserve #2 and it didn’t take. Here goes again. Beer Pours cloudy orange color with a minimalist beige head that quickly, totally dissipates. Aromas include notes of earth, light fruit like apples and pears as well as a nice yeast note and some significant spiciness. Flavor are very well integrated and with enjoyable light fruit flavors, earth, tasty yeast and rich spiciness. This beer will be down played by some because it is brewed in Texas by Saint Arnold. That is too bad, becuase while it is not a world class Abt/Quad, it is nonetheless a damn fine beer. Prost!!

Bottle via trade with Fly. This Abbey quad pours a slightly hazy deep amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and spicy, with a touch of yeast. A medium to full bodied quad. Malts are fruity and sweet, candi and brown sugar. Bunch of the typical spices as well. There is also a fairly substantial alcohol bite. Slightly spicy hops. Interesting mix of sweet, sour and spicy flavors. There are a lots f them and they are all fairly well balanced. Fairly smooth tasting for all that alcohol. Well age well I think. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean an smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

it’s been a nice day. hung out at falling rock for a bit. have some lasagna in the oven. getting ready to watch a good game on the idiot box, so i crack open this bottle lumpy sent to me. pours a light maroon without a lot of head visible. aroma is dull yeast, biscuit, plum, a bit of ethanol. enjoyable fruity frlavor with plums, dates, apricot, raisins, a yeasty plowed field tang that is always good in "belgian" beers like this. rasisin lasts longer than the other flavors here and rings in a spicey not cinnamon, but maybe clove sensation. some cocoa in this later on, with a nice chocolate orange flavor. a pleasure to drink. thanks for the bottle lumpy.

Poured a hazy dark amber color with a small off-white head. Yeasty and fruity aroma with notes of chocolate and dark fruit. The flavor was malty and fruity. Somewhat phenolic and acidic. A little on the hot side with some throat warming as well.

A slightly hazy amber pour. A spicy aroma with a very spicy flavor with just a hint of alcohol. A decent palate. A beer that I really enjoyed again a beer that I would like better access to so that I could drink one by myself on my 55 birthday.

A peach and caramel aroma. An amber appearance. The flavor is semi cloying with some molasses, caramel, raisins, and other dark fruit. A complex and sweet beer. Arnold seems like a generic name for a saint though?

kp’s fest of 26 Medium gold pour with a diminutive head of white. Nice lace. Strong sweet malt with a dry finish Chewy body. This might be very interesting to age a bit.
