Commercial Description:
Reserve No. 2: Abbey American Quadruppel Cases Made: 787 Date Brewed: April 26, 2006 Date Bottled: July 18, 2006 Original Gravity: 1.093 Final Gravity: 1.022 Alcohol: 9.3% ABV Description: This big beer goes beyond existing styles. It is best described as an Abbey American quadruppel. It was brewed with a combination of Maris Otter, Munich, Victory and Special B malts. This beer is also the first time we have used an adjunct, in this case brown sugar, in the brewkettle. It is hopped with Perle, Liberty and Saaz, going for a pleasant, balancing but not overly aggressive bitter. We then split the wort from the kettle into 2 fermenters, pitching one with an American Ale yeast and the other with a Belgian Trappist yeast. Near the end of fermentation, the tanks were combined to finish out. The beer was conditioned for 12 weeks and then packaged unfiltered. This beer has a nose of malt, fruit and spice with a light touch of hops. The taste is a combination of malt with a warming alcoholic feel, lots of fruit, light clove and spice and a very pleasant hop bitter. While this beer is ready to be enjoyed immediately, it should develop well in the bottle over time.

Bottle in trade from MiguelMandingo. Thanks man.
Pours orange to amber with a semi clear body. Smell is fruity with raisin bread as well. Taste is the same with a strong raisin bread flavor and light belgian yeasty character. Slightly bitter, and perhaps a bit nuttiness too. Not bad.

Bottle shared by lb4lb at his tasting. Poured a clear, light copper color with no head. Bready malt aroma with some spiciness and light fruit. Sweet, fruity malt entry leads into a sweet raisin and fig presence with some light clove finishing with a lightly yeasty, dry finish. Slick on the palate, but felt a bit thin. Pretty nice quad, but it isn’t quite up their with the big boys.

12 oz bottle, via goryshkewych. Pours a dark orange body with a good amount of yeast haze. Smallish fizzy light beige head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is quite sweet and fruity with lots of light brown sugar and a good bit of alcohol vapors. A little bit of spiciness from the yeast that comes across as almost allspice like. The flavor is not as sweet as the nose had suggested, still quite fruity, but not sticky or cloying. A good bit of alcohol comes out mid swallow and lasts into the finish. I do like that the brown sugar has not over powered the malt and yeast. Mouthfeel is full bodied and thick but not sticky or cloying with fairly nice soft carbonation. Overall, this was pretty decent. As it warmed there seemed to be a bit of oxidation creeping out on the late finish.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin rim of beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, prunes and more as well as a light touch of alcohol. Thanks Boboski.

Bottle, thanks to Bu11zeye. Drinking right now. Poured a thick cloudy amber, but had a thin off white had with minimal retention. Aroma is of apple (my wife picked that out) and sweet caramel malt. Flavor is very sweet, with citris notes, with slight bitterness. Body is full with medium carbonation. Overall.....I love this beer!!!!! I think I was lucky just to get a bottle of this from Bu11zeye, from the look on his face, he didn’t want to let it go.....Thanks Marcus!!!!!!! It’s much appreciated!

May 2007 - Deep caramel color, thin head. Decent aroma of caramel apples and cherries and sweet alcohol. Very warming, noticeable, but pleasant alcohol under lighter fruits, notably cherries and apple. Smooth mouthfeel with noticeable carbonation, slightly dry. This was similar in nature to Weyerbacher Blasphemy, with no barrel character.

12 oz bottle via BA-SS-07 (thanks!). SHe pours a near clear reddish brown with a nice beige head. Nose is malty with candy and spices. Tastes like it smells with some belgian yeast and a bit of chocolate and fusel alcohol. Body is medium, carbonation moderate.
