Poured a murky effervescent amber with a large creamy/frothy off-white head. Aroma of bitter grapefruit, sweet toffee, a bit of bubble gum and alcohol. Flavor is dry and bitter with notes of bitter grapefruit rind with some yeasty biscuit supplying the malt. More bitter than flavorful. Finishes dry and yeasty. Body is somewhat oily. Not particularly classy but has decent hop flavor. presario (3001), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Orange thick hop flavour. Heavy body, not syrupy though. Alcohol is restrained. Huge IBUs. Big hop finish. Overly hoppy even for me, sad to say. No sweetness. All heavy warm dry hops. Aromas of caramel, and pineapple, with a sprinkle of grapefruit juice. Flavor is lots of caramel and toffee notes but there is some bitterness there too some pineapple notes come through before a fairly bitter finish. Medium bodied with a fair amount of carbonation and a dry bitter finish.. Not bad. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Bottle from Pailhead. Thanks for the rarity! Hazy amber, minimal head. Malt dominated aroma. Caramel and toffee, pine and citrus zest bakground. Oxidation already settling in. Flavor again all caramel and toffee. Grapefruti and pine resin finish. Medium-full mouthfeel. Nothing blends well whatsoever in this beer, very harsh overall. Doesn’t even pass for an IPA let alone IIPA, more like aged american barleywine. hopdog (5609), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a deeper and muddy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, light pine, caramel, and some melons. Sticky. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and pine with a grapefruit finish. Nicely balanced. Alcohol well hidden. egajdzis (3631), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2007 Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, tobacco, toffee malts, and a cereal graininess. Taste of caramel malts, resiny tobacco, with citrus, grapefruit, and a bitter finish. No detection of alcohol in this one. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Bottle from trade with bu11eye. Sweet fruity aroma, citrus mainly, grapefruit & orange, little date, little yeasty mealy. Tangerine in there too. Hazed brownish orange color, small head that faded quickly to a ring. Minor lacing. Bitter flavor, grapefruit mainly, a trace of whisky, bit oxidized, abv has adds heat to it. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Tasty, wish I could of tried when first released as the oxidized thing didn’t help it, but a solid made brew from the good folks at Saint Arnolds. blankboy (3239), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2007 Bottle shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a murky peachy-orange with an average size off-white head. Aroma’s surprisingly sweet with lots of caramel malt and resiny hops along with some fruit. The flavour, which I like more then the aroma, is nice and hoppy with lots of resiny hops (which hide the alcohol quite well, I never would have guessed this was 9.5%) and a nice bitter finish.
Medium to full bodied. Not great, it’s a little one-dimensional and a tad unbalanced but it’s still a very good IIPA.
