Commercial Description:
This is a Wee Heavy that one of our brewers has been working on for a couple of years and the final results are well worth the wait. The color is deep ruby on its way to black with bright clarity (especially considering it is unfiltered) and a thick, tan head. It has a nose of Irish coffee with hints of peat. The body is sweet and creamy--not thin, not heavy. Almost refreshing, if a beer this big can be described as such. Caramel malt, smoke, coffee and orange come in and out of focus several times as the beer moves across the palate, then it finishes with a light spiciness. We again used our St. Arnold yeast which added a nice layer of complexity to this already multifaceted beer. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer.

Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a dark burgundy color ale with a small foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of dry figs with subtle peat malts is exquisite. Taste is also dominated by some sweet dry figs and raisins notes with some subtle smoke and peat malt. Body is tad too light for the style with some medium-low carbonation. Very well balance overall with the sweetness being well balancer with the peat. This is definitely something I would wish top have more often.

Thanks to Peter for this one! Had my expectations low for this one, but I have to admit I was very wrong. Very good example of what a scotch ale should be. Surprising amount of caramelization in this one. Good creamy character with a bit a peat thrown in. Sweet flavours of the caramel malt and rich toasted oats. Decent finish as well where I never would’ve suspected 9.5% alcohol. Well hidden. Very well designed and executed.

Bottle via Ofortuna. The beer pours to a really dark clean garnet body with a tan head. The aroma is quite nice. Rich malt, deep caramelized malt and sugars, chocolate, and oatmeal. The flavor is really malty and chocolatey with oats and deep barley mixed with sweet powdered sugar. The palate is creamy and rich. Pretty good.

Bottled thanks to Ofortuna (& peter!). Poured an almost clear, very deep brown with a short cap of creamy caramel head. The aroma was very fragrant and peaty with toasted caramel representin’... quite rich. Flavor had sweet, smoky caramel at the base along with some chocolatey sugars.. some peppery and sharper spices appear toward the end. Medium-bodied with a decent flow on the palate.. touch grainy too. This was a very good Scotch ale.

Word to rollinhard for forwarding this one. If I had to do a blind taste test this would get categorized in the smoked category. Big smokey flavors. Aroma is more like a scotch with some purple fruit and flat cola smells. Beautiful ruby color. Some sweetness that stays with you for a while. Nice one here guys.

Has aged since released February. Coffee color with dark red. Head resides quickly. Sweet aroma of vanilla, malt, fruit, smoke. Nice full creamy mouth feel. Complex earthy flavor similar to aroma with a light smoke finish.

Thanks to bu11zeye for trading this rare one to me. Pours very dark brown / black with a small off white head and decent carbonation. Aroma is deep ripened fruits, oak, malts, and light smoke. Very nice aroma. Flavor is very full and rich. Ripened fruits, smoke, malts, and maybe light molasses. Didn’t detect much coffee but that does not matter at all. The mouthfeel is thick and silky. Alcohol is well hidden but you can sure feel it warm up the gut. Very impressed overall. Thanks again Markus.
