Commercial Description:
This is a big, malty, hoppy barleywine. Yet with all of the intense flavors, they meld together to create a well-balanced big beer. The nose has a strong resiny hop note. The taste starts with a combination of the malty sweetness and spicy hops with both flavors magnified by the high alcohol level. The spiciness carries through the middle and finishes with a satisfyingly dry bitter. It was brewed with 2 row pale, Caramunich and Special B malts with brown sugar added in the kettle and hopped with 225 lbs of Columbus hops including 44 lbs that were dry hopped. We used our Saint Arnold yeast strain which gives a rich, creamy mouthfeel to the brew. It is unfiltered and will clarify with aging. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer. This beer will age well. Original Gravity: 1.094 Final Gravity: 1.019

Clear copper kettle color with a tight tan head. Great hop forward aroma is spruce sap and flower garden. Medium body. Hoppy spruce sap and citrusy sweet flavors at first, turns to bittersweet grapefruit and caramel. Has a nice boozy twang to finish. Another fantabulas Barleywine/DIPA hybrid.

Bottle from lb4lb. Thanks! Pours a dark, amber or copper. Nice beige head with big lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, dark fruits and caramel. Slightly bitter still with big malt and a touch of booze. Also has some rasiny quality as well. Very chewy and a much better beer now than fresh when the booze and hops made it harsh.

Bottle from Pete. Caramel malt, fruity nose...boozy. Flavor is semi sweet, moderate bitterness, dominated by a hefty BOOZE. Was shocked to see how much alcohol came thru in this... given that, i was pretty disappointed.

12 oz bottle, shared by kmweaver. Pours a clear amber orange body with a small fizzy off-white head. Fruity nose with heavy caramel malt and a little bit of alcohol. Very sweet with caramel and toffee malt, a little bit of crystal malt iced tea flavor, hops come out a bit on the finish, with some pretty noticable alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, pretty decent but not a whole lot of complexity going on.

Aroma like pine boughs dripping with caramel and dried fruits. Super rich palate and flavor, this beer has stuffing to it! Spicy bitter hop finish mingles with fruity sweetness; no, not mingles with: wrestles with. This beer is like Wrestlemania on yor tongue. And not these new fangled ones either. This is like Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan having it out on your palate.

12 oz bottle courtesy of MaltoMeal. Pours a cloudy deep amber/orange with a small tall head and a tiny bit of lace clings to my snifter. Huge sweet nose with caramel, molasses and malt being the dominant aromas. Nice heavy body with very low carbonation. You could almost take a bite out of it. Flavor is typical barleywine sweetness. You can taste flavors of candied fruit, molasses, and hops along with a small alcohol background. Very tasty treat.

Pours with an amber hue, with no head. The aroma is of molasses, yeast, and dark fruits. Sweet flavor with a little booze and bitterness. Tastes a little carmeley too. Syrupy to the palate, with lively carbonation. Not the biggest fan of barley wines, and this did not change my opinion of them.
