| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2008 Thanks to Belgianbeergal for the bottle. Pours a murky copper color with a tan thick head. Big caramel, toffee, earthy hop aroma that is very nice. Thick malty, resiny earthy bitter hop taste that is classic early barley wine taste. Sits very heavy on the tongue and leaves a big bitter aftertaste of hops. I think this would be a good beer to lay down for awhile, it might be just a little too powerful right now (unless that is what you are looking for). Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 7, 2008 Pours copper and hazy with a trace of off white bubbles. Smells of molasses, pine resin, some dark fruit. Tastes overly cloying and is dominated by stale hops and lots of residual sweetness. NachlamSie (1642), Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Bottle, big thanks to TheBeerCellar. Pours a semi-cloudy amber with thick lacing and a modest head. The aroma has quite a bit of cheesy hop qualities, resin, honey, brown sugar, black tea. The mouthfeel is sticky, it works well here. I had no clue what style this was intended to be and I guessed IIPA. Lots of pale malt character is up front and generous hop qualities which seem faded away to leave only a pleasing, sharp sting and some black tea qualities. It seems to lend itself to sport a more standout hops. I don’t know if I’d agree with the claim that "this beer will age well," but that is definitely up to the drinker. I’d say TheBeerCellar himself would really enjoy this one. StFun (535), Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 3, 2008 Updated: Jan 8, 2009Another one thanks to Santa. This is one GREAT Barleywine. Very balanced in every way. Very malty and hoppy, almost Behemoth-lite. The 10% isn’t very noticeable. Lots of subtleness in this one as well, picked up some molasses and dark fruit (raisins maybe) in the background, with nice bitter hops up front. Notes of spice swirl around, just barely noticeable. I could use a whole damn 6 pack of this one. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2008 Courtesy mcbackus. Clear amber color, thin layer of white head. Light malty aroma, slightly peppery, a very light alcohol presence. Straightforward malt character, some heat, moderate earthy hop finish. Decent barleywine. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very dark amber color with a small light tan head. The aroma is a mix of spicy hops and different fruits, nectarine, apricot, and peaches and a sweet malt. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a very sweet malt and the hop resinates in the finish. The alcohol is not too overpowering but adds to the complexity of this amazing barley wine from Saint Arnold xmarcnolanx (798), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Aroma is malty, caramel, lots of citrus grapefruit hoppiness. Dank, sweet caramel.
Taste is sweet, finishes lingering hoppiness, sweet and cloying. The flavor is deep and lingers well.
Mouthfeel is fizzy, and cloying with a lot of sticky hoppiness.
Very solid, not a 4.0 solid at this point, but still, very solid.

Pours cloudy orange/brownish.
Aroma is hoppy sugary, fruity (peach/apricot), sweet and malty.
Taste is the same as aroma, a little more balanced, but still with more hoppy notes. The 10% abv really is present in every sip. It was hard to see it as a barleywine.
The beer was excellent, very enjoyable.
