Commercial Description:
This is a big, malty, hoppy barleywine. Yet with all of the intense flavors, they meld together to create a well-balanced big beer. The nose has a strong resiny hop note. The taste starts with a combination of the malty sweetness and spicy hops with both flavors magnified by the high alcohol level. The spiciness carries through the middle and finishes with a satisfyingly dry bitter. It was brewed with 2 row pale, Caramunich and Special B malts with brown sugar added in the kettle and hopped with 225 lbs of Columbus hops including 44 lbs that were dry hopped. We used our Saint Arnold yeast strain which gives a rich, creamy mouthfeel to the brew. It is unfiltered and will clarify with aging. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer. This beer will age well. Original Gravity: 1.094 Final Gravity: 1.019

Bottle courtesy of RidleyBrewery. Pours cloudy orange/brownish. Aroma is hoppy sugary, fruity (peach/apricot), sweet and malty. Taste is the same as aroma, a little more balanced, but still with more hoppy notes. The 10% abv really is present in every sip. It was hard to see it as a barleywine. The beer was excellent, very enjoyable.

(bottle): Pours a very cloudy amber color body, llight brownish. Small head, off-white. Hoppy aroma some sweet maltiness. Very hoppy taste, fruity like pineapple or something. Tasty sweet. Very piney & dry. Almost sickly sweet.

12oz bottle acquired in trade. I thought this brew was a double IPA when I got first whiff out of the glass because of the bursting hop aromas. Poured medium amber with tons of hop presence with a heavy malt back bone. Flavor was much of the same with the finish being a perfect balance between hop bitterness and sweet malt, a great barley wine!

12oz bottle, courtesy of kmweaver. Thanks, Ken! Dark copper, off white creamy head. Big aromas of piney spruce with undertones of soft peachy caramel. Blast of citric pine tones flow on a river of sweet earthed caramel. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, bitter finish. Don’t mess with Texas. This brew means business! Very nice...

Pours on the darker side, not very. Enormous off-white head of bubbles. Aroma is C-hoppy. Taste is more IPA than barleywine, its as if the latter is a secondary consideration. Balance with the bitterness. Above-average mouthfeel, smooth drinking particularly for the stated style.

Bottle thanks to Belgianbeergal. Hazy reddish brown. Lots of sweet malt and resin hops in the aroma along with some alcohol. Flavor is a nice spicy bitter-sweetness. The alcohol is not hidden by any means. Smooth, creamy feel with mild carbonation and a lasting bitter finish. Great brew. They could probably hide the alcohol a little better if they tried.

Murky amber. Very toasty, chewy with lots of crystal malt. Big, unrefinned BW nose. Chewy, some light, gummy flavours. Almost a light, juicy, fruit character. I wrote that it needs more time but I liked it better four months ago. 2 5 2 5 11 = 2.5

Reddish-amber with some haze. Alcoholic, caramelly aroma. Some mapley notes with demerara accent. Big spicy, alcholic character. Flavourful. 7 3 7 3 14 = 3.4
