Commercial Description:
This is a big, malty, hoppy barleywine. Yet with all of the intense flavors, they meld together to create a well-balanced big beer. The nose has a strong resiny hop note. The taste starts with a combination of the malty sweetness and spicy hops with both flavors magnified by the high alcohol level. The spiciness carries through the middle and finishes with a satisfyingly dry bitter. It was brewed with 2 row pale, Caramunich and Special B malts with brown sugar added in the kettle and hopped with 225 lbs of Columbus hops including 44 lbs that were dry hopped. We used our Saint Arnold yeast strain which gives a rich, creamy mouthfeel to the brew. It is unfiltered and will clarify with aging. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer. This beer will age well. Courtesy peter. Hmm, I believe somebody in Houston has been drinking Bigfoot because thats where this beer is going! And thats a good thing. Tawny copper color, medium firm head. Strongly hopped aroma, resiny and citric hops, very fresh, almost fruity character to them. Flavor is fairly balanced, with a tingling citric hoppiness and a full bready sweet malt base that finishes surprisingly light and clean. 10%?! I can hardly tell, it has such a light body and drinks so easily on a sweltering Florida day.

Bottle shared by kmweaver. Very light cloudiness in an otherwise dark plum/purple/red colored body. Very nice (smooth) dark fruit in the nose, some plum flavored tobacco, noticeable hop but not aggressive... notes of creamed blood oranges and sweetish black cherries all over this thing. Flavor is somewhat harsh and overly hopped, fresh for sure, and fruity as well, with abundant orange, lemon, melon, etc, but the sharpness is distracting up front. Settles out in the back, more smooth and rich, with some nice caramelized oranges showing up late. Nice use of brown sugar and overall it has a nice showing of hops for barley wine.

12oz bottle, courtesy of lb4lb. Thanks, Deniz! Pours a clear, bright amber color; light tan head with good retention and glistening, fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of tea-like malts, dark fruits, and a touch of caramel in the aroma; basic and tea-infused. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: dried dark fruits, tea, and a reasonable earthy and mineral bitterness; average carbonation; lots of tea, dried red malts, melon, and a prominent astringency. Touch of alcohol. Lengthy finish: tea-like malts, red fruits, and some slight alcoholic warmth coming through.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06 and shigadeyo. Poured hazy reddish copper color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy hoppy citrus and small malty aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Moderate bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

12 oz bottle from Zinister(I also have a bottle from lb4lb). Pours a murky reddish brown with a small off-white head that soon fades to a fine film. The aroma is sweet, spicy and hoppy. Likewise the flavor delivers on all three counts, this beer is very hops forward with a big biter bite, rounded out by lightly sweet malts. The mouthfeel is smooth and well rounded. The Finish is exceptionally long with lingering biter hops. Overall: This is a hops lovers dream. A very tasty big beer.

12oz bottle thanks to masonjer for hooking me up with this.... dark cloudy caramel brown pour with a wispy light brown head.... rich sweet caramel and dark fruit make up most of the nose along with some bittering hops on the backend.... reallly hoppy and nice bittering intermixed with sweet caramel malt, fruits, and sugary malt. mild carbonation and well balanced.

Bottle thanks to the Texas Crazy Horse lb4lb, thanks Deniz. Poured a deep garnett hued brown with a thick beige head that retained nicely and left nice lacing. Very attractive spicy, piny, and citric hop aroma with some caramel and light brown sugar. Lightly sweet, citric entry with some moderate spicy malts coming into the front with some light caramel and brown sugar that transition into a moderately dry, earthy hop finish with some light citrus undertones. It is pretty creamy on the palate, interesting for a barley wine. It will be very interesting to see how this matures, thanks Deniz.

sampled with the phoenix crew. brought out by bockyhorsey... pours a rich brownish copper color with a tan head and lacing that paints the inside of the snifter... aroma and flavor are brown sugar, malty goodness, earthy spice and grapefruit. a touch floral toward the bitter finish. hoppy dryness lingers for a long while. the alcohol barely makes it’s presence known... kinda like a ninja. flat on your back in both cases. medium body. rather crisp, dry and insanely quaffable. it is pretty straight forward and delicious because of that...
