Commercial Description:
This is a big, malty, hoppy barleywine. Yet with all of the intense flavors, they meld together to create a well-balanced big beer. The nose has a strong resiny hop note. The taste starts with a combination of the malty sweetness and spicy hops with both flavors magnified by the high alcohol level. The spiciness carries through the middle and finishes with a satisfyingly dry bitter. It was brewed with 2 row pale, Caramunich and Special B malts with brown sugar added in the kettle and hopped with 225 lbs of Columbus hops including 44 lbs that were dry hopped. We used our Saint Arnold yeast strain which gives a rich, creamy mouthfeel to the brew. It is unfiltered and will clarify with aging. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer. This beer will age well. Original Gravity: 1.094 Final Gravity: 1.019

Bottle from BelgianBeerGal (Thanks!) Dark and hazy brownish/orange pour, some carbonation and great aroma of rich malts, spices and some booze. Flavor was very sweet raisin and rich malt, yum! It seems to get better as it warms up, more notes of hops, some stone fruits and continues to finish pleasantly boozy. Really enjoyed this one, and will be adding this to a permanent wants list.

Dark with not much head. Aroma of sweet malts and some spice. A little hop flavor to the taste gives it soem balance wit the sweet and bitterness. Pretty good but I couldn’t drink too much with all the slightly metalic hops.

Bottle thanks to lb4lb, cheers Deniz! Aroma has notes of sweet caramel malts, cinnamon, strong fruity hops, sweet dried fruits, and alcohol. Hazy cider brown hue with a small off-white head that mostly diminished and left little lace. Flavor is sweet, citrus hops and bittingly bitter. Palate is medium full bodied and soft. One hoppy mother of a BW. Proly needs 2-3yrs on her to enjoy.

Bottle from Belgianbeergal. Thanks! Pours a dark murky amber with a one finger beige head that dissipates to a ring. Nice fruity ester aroma, and smells somewhat like a IIPA. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Initial flavor of caramel and maple syrup that is quickly overpowered by an aggressive grapefruit rind bitterness that carries through to the bitey finish. Some notes of tea and grains come out on the finish as well, in addition to some alcohol. This is a hoppy fucker, I wonder what this was like fresh.
