Commercial Description:
This is a big, malty, hoppy barleywine. Yet with all of the intense flavors, they meld together to create a well-balanced big beer. The nose has a strong resiny hop note. The taste starts with a combination of the malty sweetness and spicy hops with both flavors magnified by the high alcohol level. The spiciness carries through the middle and finishes with a satisfyingly dry bitter. It was brewed with 2 row pale, Caramunich and Special B malts with brown sugar added in the kettle and hopped with 225 lbs of Columbus hops including 44 lbs that were dry hopped. We used our Saint Arnold yeast strain which gives a rich, creamy mouthfeel to the brew. It is unfiltered and will clarify with aging. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer. This beer will age well. Original Gravity: 1.094 Final Gravity: 1.019

Slightly hazed orange pour with gooey tan head and lace. Dried fruit, and brown sugar dominate the nose. A very warm beer with metallic hops. A solid maltiness that takes a back seat to the hops and abv. A tad foamy but pretty thick and rich. A damn fine bw. thanks to jcwattsrugger.

Bottle, thanks to Bman1113vr. Pours dark brown with small off white head. Smells of caramel, roasted malts, hops and dates. Spotty lacgin. Has astringent hoppy flavors, with a pleasant bitter taste and a nice syrupy yet fizzy texture.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with AmEricanbrew. Pours a very dark amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of caramel, brown sugar, figs, apples, and a few whiffs of alcohol. The flavor is unfortunately nowhere near as complex or inviting as the aroma with caramel and alcohol being the dominant components along with a touch of fruit. Becomes quite dry at the finish with medium bitterness. Somewhat disappointing.

Bottle shared by wolf... Poured into a snifter, nice red color, small head. Aroma of some small chocolate? Also hops and malty.. Taste is nice hop bite, strong malt backbone to help balance it. Sweet but not sugary. A little warming from the alcohol. Nice texture and carbonation level. Good Barleywine. Thanks wolf.

Bottle poured brown with a red tint. Nice off white head. Aroma was strong resin, malt and hops. Taste was sweet, spicy, resiny, along with a touch of alcohol. Finished smooth and a nice barley wine to sip on.
