markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2009 Goryshkewych is the man... pours deep dark cola brown with a tan head. Nose is lots of caramel, toffee, namaam, light fruit, some booze, brown sugar, spice, and more fruit. Flavor is like a fruit cocktail banana and light fruit, booze, spice, and some questions. Some sour banana with a hint of maybe some chocolate. Big body in a complex weizenbock. douglas88 (1556), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Sep 21, 2009 12 oz bottle thanks to Bu11zeye. Pours a murky brown color with a small white head. A sweet nutty aroma- toasted malts, grains and chocolates. The flavor is nice; a rich chocolate/smoke flavor, some sour roasted notes, light fruit and caramel. Quite nice and quaffable despite the high ABV. A good brew. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Sep 16, 2009 Good beige head, rather stable, over cola-coloured beer, finely carbonated. Chocolate & solvent initially, bit lactic wheataroma, verging to sourness. Rather dry-smelling if that makes sense. Roasted, wheat and a flavour as from black olives. Clearly wheat-induced sourness, but little real fruitiness. Ends on some cardboard, however. Well-bodied, outspoken wheatslickness, very traceable carbonation, spritzy. Dry, pretty nice Weizenbock, if not really in true German style; but I like the Texan twist! Many thanks to fly! durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Sep 2, 2009 Bottle from petematte46. Thanks, Pete! Say, this is a tasty beer we got here. Pours cloudy dark brown with yellowish beige head. Nose of banana, yeast, slight chocolate, and soy. Sourish notes as well. Tastes a bit thinner but with all the same elements. A bit of grain, smoke, and other fruits added on the taste. I really like this beer. Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Aug 30, 2009 All my love and thanks to ericandersnavy for this one. For some reason he likes me, I don’t know. Murky dark brown pour. A slight bit of sweet fruit on the nose. Apparently some fruit and esters have been lost over time I am being told. Sour taste right on the upfront. Bitterness that has a rich fruit taste. Improves as it warms. Nice raisin agedness. Bitter finish. Definitely past it’s prime, and probably my least favorite in the DR series. Wonder what it was like back in the day... scrizzz (1247), kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 5, 2009 I get more than a slight amount of chocolate on the nose, shaved and void of sugar. Very dark, small white head. Little dark and chocolatey, then in creeps the banana and clove. Interesting, and this is kinda where I wish more weizen bocks would go. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA Jul 28, 2009 12oz. shared at CDC release with a friend. Pour is muddy brown with a small off white head. Aromas of oats, chocolate, and a slight funk. Flavor is watery and bland with some spice and chocolate notes. Not a fan of this one at all, blech. CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jul 22, 2009 Sam (ketchepillar) showed up at our door with a couple of bottles of Divine reserve last night, pretty badass! This might have been the first beer that I’ve rated having no clue what the style was, we figured it out though! Pours a deep reddish brown with a small tight head. The aroma is chocolate and cherry with a bit of spiciness and a hint of whiskey. The flavor is very cordial like with some nice cherries and chocolate with some yeasty spiciness. Somewhat sweet but not cloying.
