Commercial Description:
This is a dark, slightly chocolatey weizenbock with an undercurrent of bananas and cloves. There is a slight spiciness from the hops and a balanced malt that hides the strength of the beer. It was brewed with Dark Wheat, Light Wheat, Chocolate Wheat, Pilsner, Munich, Special B and Chocolate malts and Northern Brewer hops. We used a traditional Bavarian hefeweizen yeast which gives the beer its distinctive clove and banana character. It is unfiltered. Enjoy at 45°F or warmer. We are curious to see how this beer will age.

Thanks daknole. Hazy dark brown with a thin, short lived yellowish head, temporary spots of lace. Wonderful aroma built around the fruitier aspects of roasted malts, especially cherry and melon, some chocolate and dust thrown in there, too. Very wheaty finish on the nose. Flavor is mostly cherry and dark chocolate, some lemon zest bitterness, husky finish. The spicy elements come off a bit fusel. Medium bodied, mild carbonation.

Bottle thanks to lb4lb
Murky nut brown with a moderate beige-white head. Nose of chocolate, wheat, and banana. Flavor is rather mediocre, flat and uninteresting, chocolate milk with a little spice, wood, and alcohol. Flat palate doesn’t help it much. This one never really gets off the ground, but it’s not unpleasant.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with AmEricanbrew. Pours very dark brown, just about black, with a thin-moderate creamy off-white head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left very little lace. Pleasant aroma of wheat, chocolate and a few notes of banana. The flavor is very odd with wheat, chocolate, alcohol, and some spice that just never comes together. The mouthfeel at the finish is also a bit odd, and can best be described as gritty with a somewhat thin body. A very disappointing beer, at least for me.

Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Thanks for the bottle, Eric. Pours a deep, cloudy brown, mahogany when held to light, with a dense, fluffy, beige head. The nose is of round wheaty malt, light cocoa and supporting notes of banana, cloves and faint alcohol. Medium-bodied, yet fairly thin and slick, it transitions to a moderately spicy and wheaty finish. A touch of astringency lingers in the aftertaste. Chocolaty wheat malt, with a plastic-like blend of clove, banana and earthy/herbal hops that don’t really blend well for my tastes. I would have to say that this is probably the biggest beer disappointment I’ve had in quite some time. As well-regarded as the Divine Reserve series is and as much as I enjoy weizenbocks, I was really expecting to enjoy this beer. This one just didn’t "do it" for me; disjointed and almost unpleasant to drink... I guess it was just a matter of time before a found a 90-plus percentile brew that I just don’t like.

Nice pour, dark brownish black with a nice, off white head. Nose smells like chocolate covered cherries, with banana and coffee as well. Taste has strong wheat and coffee with a bit a smoke behind it as well. Decent mouth feel

Bottle in a trade. Pours a purple brune body with a tan head. Fruity esters, banana, bubblegum, plum, prickly carbonation and some light clove spice. Interesting brew.

Bottle. Body-very dark brown with a medium ring of bubbles. Nose-metal, Belgian yeast, some grapes, very “Belgian” smelling. Taste-light metal, medium sweet, Belgian. I don’t know what to say-this is a good, solid Belgian. If you look up “Belgian” in the dictionary, this is what you would see. Very well done. In the age of over the top beers, where styles are bastardized all in the name of cheap thrills and competition, it is nice to have a basic, well crafter enjoyable beer. Raters Post Script: I rated this thinking it was a BSA. It tastes like a BSA and not like a Weizenbock, so I will treat it as a BSA.

12oz. bottle, with thanks to alexsdad06 for the great bonus. Pours a cola brown with a tan head. Aroma is wheat, spice, nuts and cola. Flavor is more of the same. Nothing too exciting, but easily drinkable. Middle of the road for me, but not much to remember. Thanks Brad!
