Commercial Description:
A traditional India Pale Ale, the Elissa IPA is very hoppy with a properly balanced malty body. Elissa has huge hop additions in the kettle that give it a wonderful bitterness and is then dry-hopped in the fermenter to create the pleasant floral, hoppy nose. Our reverse osmosis water makes the bitter very soft with no harsh notes to it. The maltiness is derived from British Maris Otter malt. Its rich flavor stands up to the hops that would otherwise dominate this beer. The Elissa is an authentic version of the IPA style which was first brewed in the late 1700’s in England for transport to the British colony of India. The high level of hops combined with higher alcohol levels worked as preservatives to keep the beer good over the long voyage to India where conditions were not conducive to brewing. This beer is named after ELISSA, a tall ship now moored in Galveston. Ships like ELISSA were used in transporting IPAs to India. Saint Arnold is donating a portion of the proceeds of this beer to the Galveston Historical District for preservation of this ship.

on cask; A bright yellow pour that does continous bubbling and settles down to amber in color with a 1 inch white head. Sweet mild hop aroma. Perfect balanced hop flavor. A dry taste. So good. Good after taste. One if the best I’ve had, awesome on cask. Lacing on half the glass is perfect. Numbers now reflect cask rating. bottle; A rich golden amber pour with lots of foam. Smells great, very floral. Strong hop flavor, but not too bitter. Great taste. weak aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a little runny.

Courtesy of ZInister! 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden/amber colour with a small creamy offwhite head. Nose of caramel malts, floral hops with background of black pepper. Initial taste is watery with a sweet malts touching the mouth before getting splashed over by citrus hops. Mid palate of pine. Finishing with rhine bitterness that I think pushes the limit on the rhine levels . Dry finish with mild head retention. A decent stab at an IPA but not well balanced.

Cask at The Flying Saucer Dallas: Keeps creamy egg shell head throughout. Taste is a touch watery, malty, and a touch of biscuit, finishes slightly bitter. 736314

12 oz bottle- poured transparent light amber in color, a very thin bubbly head, aroma of malt and floral. Hits the mouth with a medium body, very well balanced hops from start to finish. A very enjoyable IPA!

12 oz bottle. Pours a orangish-amber with a half-finger off-white head which lingered. Aroma is grassy and floral hops with some malt backing. Flavor is sweet, grassy hops and slightly citrus. Mouthfeel is medium with good, dry bitterness.

Thanks to lb4lb for this extra. Pours a clear orange with a white head. The aroma tells me its fresh. Pine and florals with a touch of grass and caramel malts behind. Sweet but drying flavors. Malt base with florals and piney citrus on top. A little on the grassy side for the finish which is a little cloying. But slightly bitter and decent.
