The aftertaste is certainly high in grapefruit sensation and the mouthfeel is thin(much like grapefruit juice). I know I seem to be harping on the grapefruit aspect, but try one of these babies and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about. Finish is very clean. BBB63 (4274), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 16, 2005 Bottled: Clean golden hue with an initial frothy head which faded to a ring but leaves a small amount of lace. The aroma has notes grapefruit and apple, pine and floral hops, bready and pale malting, and a hint of spearmint and clove. The taste is mildly bitter and citric with a good balance of malt background. Quite herbal and moderately spicy upon the finish. The feel is sharp and metallic. A very good IPA, bigger than most but still not IIPA level. Yummy and from Houston, who knew? Thanks Kevin for the bottle. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2005 Late 2004 or 2005 bottle from Walt! Grapefruit-orange colored body, quite bright and with a slight chill haze. Yellowish-white head is large and well-retained. Aroma of wet grass clippings on a hot day, dill and cumin, tangerines, and lightly sweet grapefruit in the background. Flavor is well-restrained on the hops bitterness, but quite dry and flavorful of grass, herbs, light citrus notes and some spiciness. Bits of caramel and toffee intersparsed with the hops. Not a huge malt backbone, but it has a relatively low bitterness and light, tingly mouthfeel, so it dosent need a ton of malt. Bubbly, medium body, lively, but not overdone with carbonation. My biggest and perhaps only complaint was the very quick and clean finish, with just some pale malt and light grassiness lingering on. But I like the session nature of this beer and am definitely going to seek out more beers from St. Arnold. 6.6 abv? Wow, didnt notice at all. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 28, 2005 Thanks to my co-worker Subbu for hookin me up here. Clear sparkling orange, thin creamy white head. Nose was typical IPA with sweet grapefruit, spruce, toffee, caramel, and slight hints of earthiness. A very nice rich bitterness takes hold off the bat, but is quickly followed up by the light sweet caramel malt for balance. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bittersweet finish. A good session IPA... Likerighteous (120), Pflugerville, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2005 Cloudy orange with loitering head. Smallish on the hop-meter but well balanced fruit and bitter. Great session beer. The pinkish label is a demerit. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Nice aroma - fruit and citrus rinds. Taste follows the same profile - very first seconds of the sip have a sweet fruityness, quickly followed by grapefruit (with the peel, too) and ending with an oily pine resin. All of this hop on top of a soft sull malt body. Excellent - thanks Fly! zathrus13 (1316), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA
