Amber color with smallish head and low, low carbonation. Nose has a little nutmeg in it along with some other spiciness. Taste is a little better than aroma with nice malty bock flavor. I liked it. Poured a cloudy effervescent amber with a fizzy off-white head. Sweet fruity aroma, touch of caramel and sourness. Taste is sweet and slightly vinous with a touch of lemon tartness and smoky dryness. Biting carbonation and alcohol add a burn to the flavor. Not sure if I’d call it smooth, but it’s decent and flavorful enough. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2005 Pours with a frothy amber colored head that sits atop a orange-amber colored beer. The aroma has notes of caramel and a sweet concentrated, fruity maltiness that I associate with strong Lagers and notes of toasted malt. The taste is sweet up front with a rich malty finish that almost has a meatiness to it. I get notes of bergamot in this beer, though it seems to be a mix of the maltiness and perhaps the subtle hopping. This beer has a medium full body to it that coats the mouth with sweet malt notes. The finish has a bit of bitterness as well as an astringency that is a mix of toasted malts and a tannic like drying. Definitely interesting and tasty, though it could use a bit more oomph. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 6, 2005 The body is a light ruby with almost no head. The aroam is sweet caramel with a little bit of burnt oak. The taste is sweet and smooth caramel with some brown sugar. The finish makes me think of slightly burnt apples. Overall a nice spring beer. Recieved in a trade, thanks Kevin. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2005 Thanks to Kevin for the bottle. Gold orange color, small fizzy off white head. Grain and grass aromas with a DMS tinge. Woody nose, somewhat sweet malt flavors to follow. Husky astringency joins a muted hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is slick but not smooth, with a chemical roughness from DMS. BBB63 (4230), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 16, 2005 Nice caramel amber hue with a initial good fixxy off-white head but little lace and fades to almost nothing. The aroma has notes of biscuity and carmelized malts, vegetables and grainy, a bit of fresh wood as well and hints of phenolic tones. The taste starts with a straight forward sweet malt overtone and finishes with a okay hint of bitters and that woodiness detected on the nose. The feel is just average but the finish has a touch of snap which helps. In the end, this is a forgettable beer, but all things considered, not too shabby for Texas. Thanks Kevin for the bottle. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 11, 2005 Bottle. Amber with no head. Nose is sweet and caramel like. Taste, in one word, is "husky". Reminds me of the way barn floors smell. Not always a bad thing. Other flavors are roasted malts, smoke, caramel, lots of crystal. Not too shabby, but I wouldn’t drink it everyday. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 5, 2005 pours a dark light brown. minimal head that doesn’t stay around. doughy caramel malt aroma that is a bit woody, like mesquite chips but more mellow.light brown sugar and sherry in the first taste. smooth at first, but with some bite at the end, i guess thats the alcohol coming through. something that reminds me of biting into a popsicle stick after the popsicle was good, the sweetness is still there, but there is a woody bitterness. not a bad beer, i will not have a problem finishing the six pack.
