Commercial Description:
An authentic, German-style Bock, celebrating the coming of spring. This strong, deeply flavored lager has been aged to create a smooth, malty taste with a hint of sweetness. A light addition of German hops balances the malt flavor. Saint Arnold Spring Bock is best consumed at 40° Fahrenheit.

Clear amber color with a two finger off white head that audibly shrank to nothing. Sweet grain nose with some hair spray. Sweet beer with some pit fruit, caramel, and a toasted grain note. Not sure what a Heller bock is, but this is okay enough.

12 oz bottle courtesy of zinister. Poured a copper color with a medium beige head that dissipated quickly. The aroma was distinct with sweet malts and vanilla. The flavor is malts forward with more of the same malt character as in the nose. Also present in the flavor are vanilla, berries and almonds. The mouthfeel is full and malty with lively carbonation. The finish is medium in duration and is a bit dry. Overall: A fairly good Heller IMO, this beer goes down easy.

Bottle, courtesy of Brandon Orr. Reddish amber with a thin top. Musty, wheaty, malty aroma. Smooth malty drinker with just a slight hoppy bite. Easy to drink session beer. (#3448, 5/3/2008)

Pours reddish copper with a short-lived off-white head. Sweet malts dominate the aroma with light grains and hops in the background. Malt dominates the taste as well with a good bit of fruit undertones, strawberries maybe. Definitely on the sweeter side of things. Highly carbonated with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. This is my first St. Arnold’s brew and I actually think it’s quite drinkable.

Bottle courtesy of zinister. Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of caramel malt. Tastes sweet and watery. Not much going on here.

Bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a two finger frothy tan head. Aroma is malt, caramel, and hops. Taste is sweet and sticky up front filled with malt and caramel but finishing nicely with the crisp flavor of the hops. This beer really tastes like it smells it’s quite enjoyable.

Pours a deep copper color with a fairly thick off-white head and lots of carbonation. It has a sweet, malty, almost grassy aroma. The taste is sweet and malty, with a slight toasty undertone. All in all, not a bad brew, but just a tad too sweet for me. Best on a cloudy and cool day.
