Commercial Description:
A true bohemian-style pilsner. Crisp and refreshing, this beer is perfect for a hot summer day. Saint Arnold Summer Pils has a delicate, sweet malt taste complemented by an abundant hop aroma and flavor. This beer is brewed with fine German malt, and a copious quantity of "noble" hops imported from the Czech Republic. Saint Arnold Summer Pils is best consumed at 36° Fahrenheit

WOW, For a pilsner this beer tastes friggin great!!! I’ve never tasted a pilsner with so much complexity. Beutiful white head that leaves a little something down the glass...I LOVE Saint Arnold Beers and here’s another to prove why!!

Large frothy bright white head. Light carbonation. Light crisp aroma with lemons and a bit of wheat and yeast. Little spices in there also. Color is a bright gold. Somewhat weak flavor with more wheat, yeast and spices. Little grassy and bready also. Finish is dsoft and creamy with a slight dryness. A decent pilsner. In fact better than most pilsners.

In the bottle at the Huber Haus IPA beer tasting. A bonus beer from Bill Baburek! Gold in color with a white head that dies quickly. Fizziness is slight. Has decent lacing. A sweetness to the aroma. Not a bad beer. Has a good clean palate. Great finish of a malty tartness. Surprisingly good beer indeed.

Spicy, doughy aroma. Bubbly, crystal clear golden body with a white head that quickly diminished. Moderately malty taste with a hop bite. Has a kind of tongue coating sweetness as well that I found enjoyable. Overall, this is a refreshing, tasty beer that I wouldnt mind drinking after a 100 degree day in Houston.

Pours a brilliantly clear gold color and is topped by a frothy, almost white head. The aroma is spicy with grassy-herbal hop notes plus an underlying note of sweet grain. The taste is lightly sweet up front with a immediate hop character that flows through to the finish of this beer. The hop notes taste like a mix of lemon, herbs of various sorts, and a bit of grassy astringency too. This beer is quite light, and seems to be either missing the body/maltiness (for a Czech Pils), or the dry flintiness (of a German Pils) that would make this beer great. It is a little too sweet and thin, but is nice and quenching and certainly an easy quaffer.

Bottle: Courtesy of bu11zeye via trade. Euro-lager and slight buttery aroma. Pours a transparentgold with a soapy white head that is instantly a ring. Sweet up front with some light buttery flavors. Finishes with the slightest hint of bitterness in the finish.

Crystal clear, light gold. Thin white head that dies quickly. Not much aroma. Light palate but perfectly OK for a summer pils. Good little sweet malt backbone. This is better than a 25. Don’t know if I’d buy it again but I’m glad I tried it.

This year’s batch seemed to yield a quite hoppy version when compared to the past few Summer Pils offerings. I am not an avid or frequent pilsner consumer, but this desrves some attention for fans of the style. Start is sweet. The malt balance kicks in midway by taming the degree of hop bitterness to produce a smooth finish.
