This is a surprise in a bottle! The appearance of this beer is bright golden with a small thin but lasting head, very tasty beer that’s just plain good, keep it up saints. "

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with robanion, thanks Ray!) Yet another generic and boring American Wheat. Very mild wheat flavor, somewhat bready and sweet, minimally hopped or bitter. The aroma is sweet and bready, more like a golden ale than a wheat beer to me. Medium bodied, too heavy on the palate for a wheat beer. Medium golden color and clear, just as this "kristall weizen" should be. When poured, a very thin head formed, but was gone in an instant. Now there’s not even a ring, and obviously no lacing. I really hate this category of beer.

Pours a clear, perhaps a hint of hazy, full gold color and is topped by a frothy pale white head. The aroma has notes of sweet grain, a hint of spicy hops and a dab of zesty lemon; really the aroma is all around quite faint. The taste is light on the palate with a surprising amount of malty sweetness, that is so apparent because there is nothing really to balance it in this beer. This beer is nice and refreshing and is quite easily quaffed on a hot summer evening. There is a bit of herbal, spicy hop character here in the middle and finish of this beer that is pleasant and it is joined by a soft fruitiness reminiscent of apricots and peaches. Overall this is a simple brew, yet still entirely pleasing and I would definitely grab this one again, but I don’t live in Texas so I guess I won’t.

Bottle: Courtesy of bu11zeye via trade. Aroma is of light grape bubblegum, moderate wheat, and the slightest touch of hops. Pours a transparent gold with a small white head that almost instantly fades to a ring. Looks like a pilsner as opposed to a wheat. Sweat up front with honey and a light grape bubblegum flavor. Some flowery hops barely sneak into the finish and then disappear as the sweet fruity aftertaste outlasts them. Slight sourness is detectable in the finish. A little thin on the palate. Not bad, but does not remind me of a wheat at all. Another beer that is nothing special, but easy drinking and refreshing.

Thanks to Crash for bringing this back to me from Texas. Orangey-yellow with a small white head, very sparkling with lots of bubbles. There is a slight haze to this, it is not quite fully filtered, but that is fine with me. Aroma is very bland, with a slight hint of a wheat tang. Wheat, straw, lemon rind, and sourdough bread flavor. Moderate-to-high carbonation is too much for me. None of the banana-y esters found in German Kristals, so this is definitely an American Wheat style.

Pours golden with no head or lacing. There was a citrus aroma but, not over-powering. There was also a slight citrus taste with more sweet tastes overall.

Small white head on a golden body. Aroma of citrus, tart apple, and grain. Smells quite harsh. Tastes pretty pilsenery, with some sweet fruitiness in the finish. Its not bad, but there are much better wheat beers out there.
